Ok, I had a problem intstalling Orneta Notepad so it was suggested that I delete the contents of IPSM/Windows/AppMgr and try again. As it turns out, that didn't work and I still can't install Notepad. Thats not the problem though; it's the fact that now the 'Remove Programs' function is useless, at least for everthing I installed prior to deleting IPSM/Windows/AppMgr contents :!: That's mildly annoying, esp. when I didn't know that would happen. I've been cleaning up the phone, moving a few apps from IPSM to SD, but having problems trying to re-install some apps. I think it might be that IPSM/Windows/AppMgr is empty, but there are still registry entries which refer to the app..I dunno but it's causing me problems anyway. Be carfeful deleting this folder!

FrankyG,

Did you delete the entire AppMgr folder?

As I recall the advice normally given is to delete the contents of IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall.

no, I just deleted the install folder. I just checked the file properties of the Appmgr folder and it was created back in Feb.. long before I changed anything.

i'm just thinking of doing a hard reset now, never had to do one before, the phone has been VERY well behaved since the UKupdate1.

I just hope that doesn't change if i do a hard reset!

FrankyG,

It should be all right.

I've had to hard reset a couple of times and it has been OK for the last few weeks.

Just for info I have never actually found anything in the install folder. I get individual folders for my installed apps underneath the Install folder in AppMgr.

Anyone else have this?

The Install folder is normally empty,

ONLY failed installs will live in the IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall this file is only viewable using a file manager

(ie Smart Explorer) on the phone, Activsync will not see inside the AppMgr folder.

The only time the AppMgr folder would be deleted is if you did not have such an app installed and could not

be installed due to the problem. The next step is a hard reset.

Also if you have the reg edit app then you can also look in the registry and remove the enteries of the app

causing the problem. Only play with the registry if you are sure you know what you are doing.

I recently found that my phone was low on memory and I had apps all over the place, so I decided to rebuild the phone when my Care Replacement arrived. I installed the core apps that I knew I would need and then sorted all my settings out, as soon as I was done I made an image on an SD Card, so at least now I know I have a decent up-to-date image in case I screw something up, same principle I used for PC's build'em plan core software then ghost'em.

Has saved me countless hours (days) in the past.

Does that include IPSM, or just the contents of the SD card? I like the sound of a full backup, but have never backed up the IPSM before. bootloader .98.
