I'm currently in Paris with my trusty SPV and have run into a few problems.

I keep recieving blank text messages with blank sender, subject and message. Therefore I'm not sure if I'm recieving an email notification, a message from a friend or a random message.

Problem 2 is that I don't how to call an Orange customer service operator who speaks english from here.

Any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated.

Merci Beacoup.

what you need to do is press the buttons a little harder.

Always helps if you write a message eh!. :)

I've edited it with the problem now.

Forgot to mention that I did recieve one message from a friend with all the usual info but the phone crashed as I tried to reply and it now seems to have vanished?!?

I'm using Orange France by the way!

Don't you just love this phone...

I've never roamed in France, but the blank SMSes are perhaps voicemail notifications, or how the SPV is choosing to handle local cell broadcast information (check Programs > Settings > Telephony > Channels - is Enable Channels or Receive channel list selected?)

In any case, OCS from outside the UK is +44 7973 100150

Cheers, Mark.

Excellent, seems to have sorted out the problem, I did have messages on the voicemail and the enable info ticked.

Strangely, if you turn off the phone it defaults back to having enable info selected.

I have also noticed a tendancy for the phone to crash over here, or stop responding for over a minute or mysteriously have the hourglass type icon on for no apparent reason. I've rarely noticed it do this in the UK.

At least the messages have stopped for the moment!

Thank you Mark

Matt

It's the voicemail notifications that are the source of the blank messages then - the Channels thing is just a red herring.

Don't know why the phone should crash more - the hourglass timers are possibly something to do with roaming network searches (just my guess, could be way wide of the mark). I went to Spain with my SPV about a month ago and it was fine - just took longer to choose and log onto a network when you powered it up, which is standard behaviour for any roaming GSM phone.

Cheers, Mark.
