Almost Off Topic....but a nice use for the Smartphone Camera sooo....

SmartphoneThoughts had a cool little article about a service from http://www.textamerica.com that lets you set up an account and upload pictures and text to your own webspace on their server. (for FREE)!

You can take a picture from your SPV and email it to your site where this picture (and optional text) is updated automatically.

I'm sure there are similar websites that offer this same service.

What a cool way to share pics and blog at the same time...all from your Smartphone. (Now there is a use for the camera!)

===========================================

:?: What would one have to do to be able to upload text and pics to their personal site via email????

Sweet! A great idea to send pics back from holiday :)

I experimented with this using MMS. If you send an MMS to [email protected] the picture gets displayed at: www.xmob.co.uk/mobile_phones/mobile_pics.php

It was my intention to package it all so that people could use it on their own web sites.

I just noticed you have the pics in your signatures! Really cool! :)

:?: XMOB:

Is there anyway you can tell me how to go about learning how to do that on my own site? I would like to make a site where I can post text and pics via email like the service above. I have moderate web skills in some flash and light html. Just to give you a frame of reference of what I'll understand...

Thanks.

We don't get that show out here. :) But that's who I associated you with from post 1. (And Paul looks like a yellow guy with spiky hair!)

I know this is getting off-topic but.....

I just watched the Office. I thought it was pretty funny. Like a fake reality show. Though it took be about 1/2 way thru the show to get used to the accents. I think I'll like it better the second time around.

Are we on the same season of shows as you are? The episode tonight was about a quiz contest at the pub and one guy got an inflatable 8==D for his birthday.

Unrelated...watching that British Comedy made me remember The Young Ones. I need to find them on DVD.

Thanks for the recommendation....well worth it. Now I have a Sunday Night regular at 9:40pm. :)

There's gonna be some Christmas specials as well (2 i think). As for the young ones, i don't think its availabe Region 1 but you can get it Region 2 here:

series 1

series 2

Anyway, back on topic... :?

I was just about to say that...

This TextAmerica thing is very smart, but the standard templates are a bit naff.

Anyone made their own yet?

PS HOW COOL will this be when we have an integrated camera? :-D

I was playing with the colors a bit on mine...trying to make it look like my (very plain) personal site. I'm currently trying to figure out how to do this directly on my site. If anyone wants to give me some pointers on how to do that....

id also be interested to know if the site can be altered to a plain page, which then could be added as a iframe or something to my existing page?

Guest nickcornaglia

You definitely can....by editing the html. I thought of that as I use iframes alot on my personal site. That will be my last option if I can't figure out how to do this myself.

Okay AngelOfRage....I did it. Not my final solution...but it works for now.

I got rid of the comments...but I couldnt get rid of the little options button under the image. I guess that comes standard with the picture. But that's okay...
