Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Guys, I have a MAX file i created in Autodask VIZ 4 and need to get into inventor or AutoCAD MDT..... can anyone convert this file into an iges or whatever please?
Guest o2designs Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Yeah mate. i reckon i can convert from 3d studio max to autocad. Zip it up and post it on the board and i will give it a go. Regards Alex S
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 here you go........ its not that good mate!
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 What format do you want it in? *.dwg? *iges? or something else?
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Huummmm - it just crashed. lets try that again......
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 How does this turn out? I've just done a regular export to *.dwg. I've not got AutoCAD here so I can't see how it's turned out.beran2.zip
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 nope.... some missing features.. like the walls and windows. try a sat file?
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 sat file? Don't think I can do that one. I changed some settings in the export, how do this look.... iges keeps crashing when I export it. grr.beran3.zip
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 this is what it looks like! arr! IGES will only export ONE solid body at a time...beran.jpg
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Think this could be the problem. When I open the file (max5) I get this little message.... And max 4.2 opens it as a empty file! Maybe o2designs can help you out on this one. My Max skills are somewhat rusty, been working with ProE more recently.dump.jpg
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 yep... thats it.... you need VIZ installed. it has custom walls and windows in it. i really dont want to install that again
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Shame. :) Is VIZ a commen thing to have? I'm used to the Uni systems and they're too cheap to even install it on most computers, so I doubt they'll have extras! "o2designs, WE NEED YOU!"
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 i was working on another one anyway just in case none of your could do it..... it has mods to the building.beran-new.jpg
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Looking good! How's the 3d in the new autoCAD? I used an older version a couple of years ago and it was a joke, the perspective wasn't even correct half the time!
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 VIZ is used for animation and rendering.... it can do some WOW! stuff! large scale rending with render farms etc....
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 MmmmMmmmMMMMmmm...... render farms. I know I could do with one of those when coursework deadlines are looming over me! "What do you mean 18 hours to render the video?!!!"
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 The New AutoCAD is better..... but i am not using if for 3D anymore really........ I use Autodesk Inventor 7 mostly.... its great! same thing as Pro/E
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Been looking on the autodesk website, looks pretty nice. I'm going to be having a play around with Alias Studio Tools in the next few months. That looks pretty sweet too. So many cad packages, so little time to learn them all!
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 if i were you i would only stick to one or two..... Pro/E and inventor being the ones to go for
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I'm using ProE a lot at uni and a bit of max. I'm going to be using StudioTools on my work placement in November, think I'm going to get the 'personal learning edition' and have a dabble before then.
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 It's from the same people who did the lovely Maya. http://www.alias.com/eng/products-services...dio/index.shtml I've seen it do some S**t hot stuff. Like taking the lines from your sketches and turn them into geometry for your 3d models. The renderer is pretty slick too.
Guest o2designs Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Sorry mate. I had the same problem. No Viz render dll's. Apparently there is support for this problem on the discreet/autodesk website. But i have been unable to find it. If you do find the required dll's or a solution i can give it another go for you no problem. Alex S
