Guest Andrea Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 My SPV freezes on the Orange screen when I switch it on, I've tried holding down the record button when switching on but it still won't get past the orange screen. My first SPV died in the same way shortly after buying it and they replaced it, this one is now a few months old so I won't get a replacement. Do you have any way I can get over this?
Guest James Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 were you doing anything before it died? to the phone that is.
Guest Andrea Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I stuck it on it's sync cradle and it started checking if anything had changed (which it shouldn't have done), I then copied one picture file to it. The sync didn't move off checking the phone so I must admit I just removed it from the cradle when it had finished copying the file over as it didn't seem to be doing anything.
Guest FrankyG Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 My first SPV died in the same way shortly after buying it and they replaced it, this one is now a few months old so I won't get a replacement. Do you have any way I can get over this? Don't be too sure; mine was about 4 months old when it died(during UKUpdate1) so I took it to local orange shop and they had a new one for me the next day :!: - I didn't even buy it from them, I got it online. I was impressed with Orange...the feeling didn't last... :? jlowap is right tho...were you doing 'stuff' with the phone that caused it to die? Even if you were, it's still no reason for it to completely fail so you still got a good case for another replacement...IHMO :) Good luck...and welcome to the forum...
Guest Andrea Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Thanks for the encouragement FrankyG, I may have to resort to pleading for a replacement, or maybe I should go for the E100? I've described what I was doing above, but I don't see why it should react to that so badly! If it was a PC I would fdisk it and start from scratch but it seems this thing is totally impenetrable when it gets a small headache!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Welcome to the site :) Ok try these things. 1, Power off the phone, remove the battery. After a few minutes replace the battery and restart the phone. If that does not work, 2, Click on the word Hard Reset as this is the next option.
Guest Andrea Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I tried the hard reset but it still gets stuck on the orange screen after I've been through the three colour Canary screen.
Guest Andrea Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Oops! Sorry! Spoke too soon. After a few minutes on the Orange screen it finally revived - thanks to all of you for helping me resuscitate it. I'll stick with you lot now!
Guest bikespod Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 If you get really bad problems like i did with dockware coming up with every button pressed, you can get it re programmed by hays technology repair center. appletree road, chipping warden, banbury, oxon, OX17 1LL. You'll lose all data, but they will reset and download all original settings. nick.
Guest FrankyG Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 it seems this thing is totally impenetrable when it gets a small headache! I think you'll find a lot of blokes make the very same complaint... Glad you got it sorted...this really is the best place for help and advice...
