This problem is being addressed as a few members have had problems not meaning to offend but this is

normally down to inexperience.

The new (still in development) FAQ section has some information on how to put the Bootloader on the

storage card, but again it depends on your ability ie you need to know haw to use either USBterm or Winhex.

have a look and see if it helps.

hey there,

no offense taken with your post... :) and i understand what you ment by inexperince, but I do have winhex nad i have backed up other versions of the bootloader before and i had donwgraded... but this time around my bootloader does not prompt me to download the new version.

i have not tried to USBTerm.exe because i am in canada and there is no one else that i know of in the greater toronto area that has an SAP or SPV...

what i am really looking for is a step by step apporach as to how to get a ROM, NOT just a bootloader, but a full ROM on an SD card... I am aware that you can do this with the XDA (which i already have done so) via the XDArit.exe tool.

That is why i had created this new thread... and yes i have tried over and over again to update my SAP, but till this point... no positive results...

Thanks for the posts :o

and btw... i didn't get a chace to say this on my other posts, but this forum ROCKS!!!

You can get the full ROM onto the SD card, You need a 32MB card to do this and Winhex (which you have)

This is not my area of knowledge so I can only tell you what I know which is very little (hopefully some one can clarify this)

as far as I know you need to get the update in a .bin format I presume this makes the update run when the phone is started up :?:

As I do not have a 32MB card I can not try this out and have a play :P which I want to do, best way to learn is to

bugger up your phone and then PANICK :) (my opinion only and not recomended unless you have a spare phone) :o

HAHAHA!!!!

Ijust got it!!!! it wasn't the ROM nor the Bootloader.. it was a combination of USB cable vs. Serial, cheap SD vs. high end SD, and SD reader (one bad one good). I had spent all night doing trial a trial and error process and bingo!!! Thanks again for your help and for responding to my posts. I am one happy a$s mother f@*cker!!!

Nice one :)

How about logging what you did so that people can either ask questions or give advicetips to help?

Noce one f-key

Winhex is turning out to be one of the most FAQ at the moment. I plan on trying to transfer a bootloader to 32Meg this weekend. Any hints and tips (do's and don'ts) would be greatly appreciated :o

What we now need is foolproof bootloader downgrade for 1.5.

(one that doesn't bugger up your phone :) )

Hey there,

hmmm... good idea, i should of posted my steps in my last post... my bad...

what i did was i downloaded the bootloader files from...

http://www.smart-expert.com/backup/BOOT.zip

and ROMs from...

http://www.smartphonefrance.com/rom.asp

winhex from winhex.com but i had buy the serial... i was unable to find an older version to crack

ok for those who don't know what my problem was... i had atempted to upgrade my rom to the newest rom from smartphonefrance.com... i was hoping that it was modified so there would be no sim lock... bone head move on my part  ...

so having doen this before i attempted to downgrade my 1.50 rom from smart to one of the many 1.3x... roms, but in the middle of the process the update app crashed.. and i was stuck with just the bootloader version 1.04 (bootloader from hell)...

i have a SD reader and a 256MB SD card (32MB would be more then enough to fix this prob  ), and the lastest version of winhex...

first format you SD to either FAT32 or 16...

the what i did was unzipped the bootloader files from BOOT.zip and and double clicked 93.whx file, which in turn launched the winhex program.

when this program starts you are greated with a window that's titled "Restoration of 13201 sector(s)" at the bottom of this window you must select the logical path to your SD reader and just save it to the SD...

once the saving process is finished the you can remove your SD card out of your reader

then take your SAP/SPV off of it's cradle and pull the battery out for 30 sec... kill the power cycle... and then boot into the bootloader and you should be prompted to download a file from your SD and it should intall right away... there should be a message that ends was successful...

remove your battery again and reboot back into your bootloader... i find it easier to upgrade or downgrade your rom from the canary screen...

reconnect your SAP/SPV and execute the rom up/downgrade... and things should run smoothly... should is the key word here... but it's not always the case...

if you failed to save a copy of the bootloader to your SD card theus failing to downgrade it then disconnect your SD reader and try another USB port... no joke, my PC has 4 usb ports... 2 in the front and 2 in the back...

if you are still experiecing bootloader up/downgrades at this point it is one of 2 things... your SD reader is junk and is unable to save properly or your SD is junk and doesn't save proplery... i am serious!!!!

i am just very lucky to have a friend who has a newer sd reader then i... mine is usb 1.1 6 in 1 reader and his is a usb 2.0 6 in 1 reader... and he has a newer SD card then i (also a 256) and it worked like a charm!!!

well after 14 hours of trying out different ports and such... even his didn't work on my 2 front usb ports... you might say it's strange but since i have fixed my phone 2 hours ago i had tried it again 3 more times... and tried out the other ports and such and sure enough only my back right port was good enought to handle the up/downgrades (with his reader and card)...

like i said in my earlier post it was a process of trial and error, but once i found out that it's a connectivity issue as well, and found a way around it, the up/downgrade is smooth as silk (with the tolls mentioned above... winhex, roms, tec.)... i know this is a serious pain in the ass method... but it will work...

Thanks for the post :)

I will try to read it properly later when I have time, also see if we can add it to the FAQ section

(unless there is something there there already)
