Anyone know of a better way to do it preferably SIM FREE as i dont want any kind of contract tied to me. Dont fancy eBay either i wanna brand new one :) cheers DrG
Guest jctune Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Try going to PPCW.net. I think Arne's temporarily sold-out, but he may be getting some more the middle of August.
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Or you could do what I did..... http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...ighlight=prague
Guest rashah Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 ebay.co.uk is fine - most brand new e100s are going for £250 - £350 I sold mine there for £280
Guest mattscholey Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 This is what you do: Go onto www.orange.co.uk and buy an E100 on a £13/month contract (Orange Value Promise Plan of T-Mobile Anytime 20), and the phone will cost you £130 (because you got it online). Cancel the contract for £156, and you've got yourself an E100 without any contract tied to it. Total cost: £286. Great! Then buy an Orange Pay As You Go SIM card for £20, and your ready to go. This is what I was going to do, but then I thought about this: why not just use the contract? Either way your going to have to pay £13 a month, and once you've done that everythings cheaper. GPRS is £2/MB in a bundle (£3/MB out of bundle), but on pay as you it's as much as £4/MB! Then you can buy text and photo messages in a bundle to save you around 33%. And after a year you can get a new phone for often under half the price of PAYG, and (I think) after 18 months you get a free upgrade. The argument against a pay monthly contract of course is you can run up as big a bill as you like, with nothing like running out of credit to stop you, however it is easy to tell when you've spent more than you should have, and if you realise this then you should just cut back your spending. There are app's out there to count your GPRS (I use GPRS Traffic Counter). And I've heard many complaints about nothing but phone calls and text messaging working on Pay As You Go, on Pay Monthly you don't have to worry about that (you're using it as Orange want you to). The argument against getting it new off ebay of course is your not getting it from a reliable high-street brand, but some stranger you've never met before and never will. Which ever way you choose to go - contract or Pay As You Go, I hope I've given you a reliable, affordable option, Best wishes, Matt
Guest Will Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 i think orange can apply a 'cap' on your spending so your bill is never over 100quid or something.. (just ring and ask) Might be worth mentioning children, oh they can't be trusted etc.. Will
