Guest [email protected] Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 I just got my E100 at the Kings Road Orange shop. I am trying to have the phone SIM Unlocked and have been reading a number of Forums hoping to learn the correct way to do it. One thing I came across was the Bootloader version. There is mention of the Bootloader 0.93, 0.99, 1.04 and even the 1.05. When I go to the Canary screen, all I get is Bootloader v 1.00. What I am going to attempt is to copy Bootloader v0.99 from my old SPV onto a SD card, and back-up Bootloader v1.00 from the E100. Once that is completed, I will downgrade the E100, run the Unlock program, get the unlock code, upgrade back to the original Bootloader, insert a different network SIM, and try entering the Unlock code. I hope the above works. I have read somewhere that using the USBTerm allows one to successfully run the Unlock program, but in my case, the USBTerm is not recognizing the 'password SMARTPHONEHTC' command. Running the Unlock program only gets me to the 66% level before displaying an "Error - Aborting" message. Hope my plan above is successful. Any thoughts before I start?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 I'm sure i've answered this a;lready :? EDIT yep found it, I thought I was cracking up :) You need v 0.98 and below to be able to SIM Unlock. this can be found at www.monolithix.org If you want to do this and are sure you are confident in what you are doing good luck.
Guest tomdbomb61 Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 speeking from personal experience, on my 3rd E100, i would not advise messing around with bootloaders.  embarrassing to say the least! ive already killed 2 e100's doing it. and i just dont think its worth the haste. im personally holding out for sumbody to modify the unlock program to work with bootloader v1.0
