Guest godboy Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 why can't i put a mp3 or wav file on my phone as a ringtone,it comes up with not enough discspace, and if i try to delete ringtones i can't because they are read only or in use the phone is in the same condition as in the shop with nowt on it..
Guest nobznss Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 How are you going about attempting to put ringtone on your phone? The tones must be wav files to play correctly. Do you know how much space you have left on the phone. More than likely you won't be albe to fit a 4 meg MP3 on there or a similar sized wav.
Guest godboy Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 how do i find out how much memory i have on the phone. and i am using alive wav converter ,converting the file and then dragging it into the windows folder on the phone as that is were my ringtones are asi have no sounds folder.
Guest nobznss Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Go to the settings on your phone under programs, and then go to about. The amount of memory you have on your phone is I think under available storage. That's how much room you can play with on your phone. There is a way to put wavs on your memory card, but I haven't messed with that, so I'm not sure how well it works. Hope I've helped.

You have to create the folder called Sounds in IPSMApplication Data Also if you place the wav files in the main windows folder, they will be deleted everytime the phone is turned off and restarted as the Windows folder gets re-written every start up. Also You cannot use mp3 for ringtones also your wav files only have to play for 30 seconds. Finally what size are these files you are trying to use? And Welcome to the site :)
Guest prv_flores Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 same questions here guys!!! i hope u help godboy so u would help me too!!! :o :P :)
Guest DMF Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 Trial and error tonight taught me this. - Convert the MP3 to a WAV - Convert thw WAV from 16bit to 8bit - Combine left & right channels (ie: convert to MONO) - Resample it Down to 11,025khz - Save it with PCM Info (Pulse Code Modulation) By now it should be from 4 megs to about 200k. I use Soundforge 4.5 as it supports MP3, WAV & 2 kinds of WMA among other formats...
