Guest SmartphoneFrance Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 A french review is available here : - http://www.smartphonefrance.info/mobipocket.asp
Guest TANKERx Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 I can't obtain my PID and I think I need this for reading secure e-books. When I go to 'View my PID', it says that it can;t identify the phone. Why is that? Any ideas?
Guest idavid Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 humm. i have the same problem.you can still view free ebooks, but for me, the enews (avantgo) function doesnt seem to work. :? maybe i will try a reinstall.
Guest www.msmobiles.com Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 A french review is available here : -http://www.smartphonefrance.info/mobipocket.asp a detailed review in English language is here. msmobiles.com and Mobipocket have agreement and you can read the msmobiles.com news through your Mobipocket Reader. To learn how to do it click here.
Guest idavid Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 humm. in that review they also have a problem with the PID code, preventing them from using secure ebooks.
Guest Maverick Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 How do you exit ?? i.e close the application ?? I tried every button... the bloody thing doesnt close
Guest idavid Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 you can exit by hitting the home button and the program continues to run in the background. this i think, is a condition from microsoft. you can use something like SP task manager free mem to close it though. ps. any luck getting enews?
Guest davy Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Also, if you open an e-book then bring up the menu you have an exit option. davy.
Guest www.msmobiles.com Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 How do you exit ?? i.e close the application ?? I tried every button... the bloody thing doesnt close you must enter some eBook (or even help) then in the eBook reading mode there is menu position "Exit" in the menu!
Guest Anais Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Here you can see the PID in a screen-shot. Therfore it must work. Are you sure to have the version they tested ? Why not waiting for the official release on Mobipocket's website ? I can't obtain my PID and I think I need this for reading secure e-books. When I go to 'View my PID', it says that it can;t identify the phone. Why is that? Any ideas?
Guest idavid Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 humm. ideed you can. managed to get one of the enews providers working (msmobiles). the mobipocket webcompanion downloads files into a folder called data in program files in your computer. by copying this to the ebooks folder on my phone i can access it. but none of the other sites seem to work... oh well, shall have to ber patient.... :)
Guest SmartphoneFrance Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 My French Review was made with the 4.7 Version. The MsMobiles review is the 4.6 version. The PID seems work fine on the 4.7 version :)
Guest idavid Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 ahh. that explains it. the version available form smartphone.net is 4.6 weird that they would release the wrong one. :?

The PID seems work fine on the 4.7 version :) could you please behave politely and tell us where have you taken versin 4.7? which URL/link? I don't understand why you are bragging with version 4.7 and at the same time withhold information where to take it from!!! what kind of behavior is it??? (you haven't even placed this link in your review)
Guest SmartphoneFrance Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Sorry but the 4.7 version is not a public release. It was given to me by the people of Mobipocket for tests. It will be available this week in final version with orange signature. In my french news i say that !!!
Guest TANKERx Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 In my french news i say that !!! At last, someone who refers to himself as 'me' instead of 'we'! It really grates at me when a webmaster calls himself 'we' just to make it sound like he's in charge of lots of people! Anyway, back on topic. I am very pleased to see Mobipocket out on the MS Smartphone. It's about time and now I can read all my Bibles on it! Excellent! So roll on 4.7!

(like secure eBook or eDictionary; the most valuable eBooks are ONLY in secure format)

Let's wait for version 4.7... this 4.6 version looks like it is only kind of beta test version...
Guest idavid Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 yeah, i think your right. but i managed to get cnn, bbc and the register to work by copying the folders. cant do any syncing though. i will have to be patient.

Guest TANKERx Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Another trhing to look out for to see if it is fixed in 4.7 is the annoying dialogue messages which won't go away. Once a message pops up to say something, the only way I found to get rid of ot is to exit Mobipocket. :?
Guest idavid Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 smartphone.net have withdrawn the download. hopefully the 4.7 version will be up soon!
