Guest kudosam Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 i am planning on using a glass scratch removing powder to remove some scratches from the screen but i read here to be very careful with the screen because of some anti-static stuff as marks are left even if you touch it. i am not planning on opening the phone, just buff the scratch from outside, will this be a problem? i don't want to do it if its going to make the problem worse. anyone has any advice? thx
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Welcome to the site :) Depending on the scratch be careful, remember glass has differend properties than plastic so you may end up unfortunate results :o there is a scratch remover available and even this can give mixed results. http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...scratch+remover
Guest DMF Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 Whats wrong with using some of that stuff you fix cd scratches with - thats plastic after all - and if its good enough for a cd drive laser......
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 thats plastic after all Don't forget there are few thousand different types of plastic, all with their own properties. Any thing that is abrasive on a seethrough screen is a risk.
Guest DMF Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 True enough - oh well, just a thought..... mine has a minor screenscratch too - but not really noticable when the phones on...
Guest marksewell Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Hi guys ! Well due to not liking to use the wonderfull free case that comes with the phone mine has now got a hell of a lot of scratches... ITs not too bad in the right kind of light but watching movies is now not a plesent experience. I just wondered if anyone has tried the above yet ? has it got the scratches out ? Other than that does anyone know if someone does replacement screens ? Cheers SPVERS !
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Members have tried the scratch remover and going by past results it's a mixed bag. Some it worked but others it was a disaster :) As for covers have a look on ebay as sometimes dummy covers are for sale.
