Guest orangesp Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 HOT NEWS !!! - Toshiba announcement - SD Bluetooth for PDA's and Mobile-phones soon! : "By using this card, consumers can turn any notebook PC, PDA, cellular phone or digital camera equipped with an SDIO Card slot into a Bluetooth-enabled device," said Brian Kumagai, business development manager for NAND flash memory products at TAEC. "This new card is particularly exciting because it allows consumers to enjoy the data transfer functionality of Bluetooth using their existing devices as they await the emergence of new Bluetooth-enabled systems." http://www.pdasaccessory.com/index.htm?new...osh_art10.htm&0 Cheers, [email protected]
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Interesting, I presume it's a self contained unit rather than opening up the whole phone as such :? Have to wait and see :)
Guest orangesp Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 It's an SD Bluetooth card which plugs into the SD memory card slot.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 I mean that when the card is plugged in, I presume it has onboard storage memory. so the only data it can transmit is what is on that memory. My example is having a camera with SD, plug the Bluetooth where are you going to store the pics? then when you want to transfer the images over to the PC the PC would only talk to the card storage not the camera it's self. I hope this makes sense  sounds better than my initial pm reply :)
Guest orangesp Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 There is talk about an option with memory and an option without. The first release will just be Bluetooth - the main intention is for using Bluetooth headsets and synchronising Contacts, etc with another PDA, Laptop or another mobile. I don't know about you but I could live with swapping the SD cards when I want to use Bluetooth and then back to the memory card for normal use? There are some WinCE drivers available now for the iPAQ's, check out this link: http://209.68.30.72/product_info.php/produ...1fd0726cf858955
Guest budda Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 That link to the Toshiba SD card fails because of the session id (sid=) in the url. However i did find the card, the description doesn't mention anything about drivers that are shipped with the card. Would be nice to have drivers for all devices but i can imagine that being a big job... and who would do the Smartphone drivers? Orange? Microsoft?
