Guest bambi Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Hi guys, My SPV hangs when I put in GPRS enabled MOBTEL (220-01) SIM card. GPRS and card are working fine with T68i, also other SIM card with no GPRS enabled are working fine with SPV. Because there is only one SPV in Serbia I have no possibility to try other one. As far as I was talking to guys from MOBTEL (GSM operator) SPV does not get IP address from the system. Does a fixed IP address and DHCP disabled in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINECommppp1ParmsTcpIp have anything to do with this issue? Any idea? Bambi
Guest Jedi Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Hi Bambi, GPRS should not need an IP address it should only require a primary and secondry DNS. Check with Mobtel and ask if they have the DNS details and put this in your GPRS settings and see if it fixes the problem. As to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINECommppp1ParmsTcpIp key, I am not sure if this would make any difference as you are using TCP/IP protocols to connect to GPRS and WAP as this is a requirement conection within MS Smartphone and any MS opperating system when making a DUN connection. Hope this helps, Jedi
Guest martin Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 My SPV hangs when I put in GPRS enabled MOBTEL (220-01) SIM card. GPRS and card are working fine with T68i, also other SIM card with no GPRS enabled are working fine with SPV. When you said 'My SPV hangs when I put in a GPRS enabled MOBTEL SIM card", do you mean the SPV fails after boot up or do you mean it hangs just when you are accessing GPRS ? The good news is that you have a T68 working with GPRS :) This means you extract the MOBTEL GPRS settings to use with the SPV. This is roughly how I setup the SPV for other networks. If you have any problems just post them up and I'll try and help. Data required from the network provider HTML BROWSER - GPRS CONNECTION WEB APN WEB USERNAME WEB PASSWORD WEB DNS1 (CAN BE 0.0.0.0) WEB DNS2 (CAN BE 0.0.0.0) WAP - PROXY CONNECTION WAP IP address WAP BROWSER - GPRS CONNECTION WAP APN WAP USERNAME WAP PASSWORD MMS - GPRS connection (might be same as GPRS WAP data) MMS APN MMS username MMS password MMS setup MMS IP MMS MMSC Then apply the above data to SPV using the following setup. Programs - Settings - Data Connections Menu - Edit connections Create proxy connection Description: WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP network Proxy (name:port): (WAP IP address) Type: WAP Username: blank Password: blank Create GPRS connection. Description: GPRS WEB Connects to: The Internet Access point: (WEB APN) User name: (WEB USERNAME) Password: (WEB PASSWORD) Primary DNS: (WEB DNS1) Secondary DNS: (WEB DNS2) IP address: (leave blank) Create GPRS connection. Guest bambi Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Thanks, but nothing. Just to be understood, when I do insert GPRS enabled SIM I’m not even able to make call, “NO SERVICE” is on the screen all time. It's working fine with SIM that is'n GPRS enabled. Any more ideas? Bambi :) :?
Guest jctune Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 bambi, this may be a stupid question, but what band does Mobtel use? If they use the 1900 mhz band like US carriers, go to Settings | Telephony | Band Selection and try switching it to PCS (or if it's already set to PCS - change it to GSM).
Guest bambi Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 Posted from my Ipaq! I believe that is has to do something with combined chanel access mode or splitted mode (one for GPRS and one for GSM). It has to be done in Mobtel, so we are going to try that tommorow. If I'm right, is there a way control this in registry? Bambi
Guest migsoft Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 My senciar condolence! I hade the same problem! It seems that our dear spv does not accept 5v sims  !!! Only good nows for you is that now you can use it on postpaid card that is 3v sim. Im sorry to admit but list of hardware and software bugs on this phone is growing day by day, aldo users love it as the first phone who bring the feeling of laptop power in hand... anyway I hope this will be good phone in next (hardware) revisions.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 Growing day by day :? Don't think so ;)
