Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 As the title says Ebay auction to annoy those selling our apps and SIM unlock   Fed up with people trying to sell how to decert and SIM unlock when the information is free to view here, I decided to start an auction to sell the information for free  The aution states the price at £0.01 as I am not allowed to sell for zero pence. No one should have to pay for information we post here and on our fellow Smartphone sites. To view the auction look HERE :)
Guest idavid Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 good man. about time someone got round to that! hey do you take switch...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 Cash will be fine :) brown envelope etc :o
Guest amo Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 Awarner, aren't you allowed to just post a link to modaco on there To save people the hassle of emailing you etc?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 I could be wrong but AFAIK it's not allowed also I can give people more information than just a link. So ifwhen they join they already know someone :)
Guest mores Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 why didn't you just place the decerting info right in the auction? i guess this would have p***ed them off even more. because i wouldn't send you an email, i'd be afraid of spam !!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 mores, I've edited the Aution to into account your comment, Posting the information on the auction I believe is a good idea but opens up too many variables as some people always gets problems.
Guest Coucou Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 Someone's nicked your trick awarner - and to sell free games too! (I presume - how else could he sell games on a CD he's compiled?) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...9&category=3312 Sorry don't know how to turn the shortcut into a label. Anyway, he's a cheeky twat!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 I saw that yesterday, he's trying a different method rather than blantantly sell copyrighted material. all we need is the list he has and a complaint can still be made

To view the auction look HERE :o Behind the times young man.... :) I did it about 5 months ago and someone who was selling it at the time complained to eBay and they removed my item. Grrrrrrrrrr Gits!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 Young man   you know how to make friends :o I remember the post but the site has moved on a lot from then. Also get to know how ebay think and work :)
Guest amo Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Right, I emailed the guy who has the dodgy software list (pretending to be a n00b) and ive just got a reply... Hi Amarjit, All the games on the cd are also compatible for the new spv. The folllowing games are available on this CD: [EDITED OUT] The CD is price at £10 plus £2 P&P. If you are intersted in this product please email me back asap. Regards, AMJAD KHAN Can we get something done?
Guest Will Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 maybe forwarding the email to the companies who produce the games? Will
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Well ebay has now cancelled my auction, and no surprise there as the person who bidded first was someone I complained about ages ago, as he was charging £25 to SIM and App unlock with out asking permission to use the apps to do this  If the guy who complained reads this all I have to say is I have saved over twenty people from being ripped off buy you :). All I can suggest now is for everyone to take turns in hosting a similar auction as it only costs £0.15 unless it's cancelled then it's free :( Here's ebays response and it proves that they do not know what they are talking about. eBay appreciates the fact that you chose to list your auction(s): 3340744319 SPV and E100 SIM and app unlock for free 3341268405 SPV and E100 SIM and app unlock for free However, eBay does not permit the listing of any lockpicking, locksmithing or mobile telephone unlocking devices. Therefore, we have ended this auction and all fees have been credited to your account. Although you may not have been aware, the sale of lockpicking devices is highly regulated within the United Kingdom. Locksmithing devices can also only be sold to authorised recipients. Since the majority of merchandise is delivered by mail and it is difficult to verify the person is authorised, the sale of locksmithing devices is not allowed on eBay. Selling on mobile phone unlocking kits is also prohibited in the UK. The last bit makes me laugh :o I'm not selling an unlocking kit just a link to a famous forum you may have heard about :P
Guest Gorskar Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 well armed with that knowledge surely you could get ebay to shut down every other SPV unlocking auction also!
Guest amo Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 TBH, the other types of auction (the illegal selling of software etc) are the ones ebay will proly wanna keep as theyre the ones that will generate them revenue. So Awarners idea, although the correct thing to do - isnt helping ebay make profits :)
Guest Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Selling on mobile phone unlocking kits is also prohibited in the UK. Since when? Do ebay know anything? Yes, changing a phone's' IMEI is illegal; even owning the equipment to do so could land you with a prision sentance. But network unlocking? Prohibited? I think ebay mean to say "we don't understand what you are doing, you are not going to make us any money, and all the big telecom networks probably don't like what you are doing so we don't either" Muppets!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 I have pointed out the facts to them but it may well fall on deaf ears :? have to see.
Guest Coucou Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Thought you might like to see this response from eBay. Reads a little like a form letter to me :) but I suppose they get loads of reports :| took long enough to come too. Hello, Thank you for your report, we have reviewed the listings you have brought to our attention and taken the appropriate action Violations of eBay's listing policies can lead to consequences that range from issuing the seller an informational alert, ending the listing(s), moving the listing(s) to a more appropriate category, a temporary suspension, an indefinite suspension or terminating the membership. Repeated violations of eBay's listing policies can result in the suspension of a member's account. I can understand your desire to know what action we may have taken on the seller's account. However, due to eBay's Privacy Policy, I am unable to provide you with information regarding the details of another member's account. This is for the protection of all eBay members. We appreciate your vigilance in helping us to keep inappropriate auctions off eBay. Best wishes, Tora Larson eBay Trust and Safety
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 Unfortunately that's the standard automated email :) the only personal touch they do is put a name at the bottom
Guest mcwarre Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 I have pointed out the facts to them but it may well fall on deaf ears :? have to see. Saying they have ears mean that they are capable of listening. NOT :!: :!: I get really fed up that they allow this type of thing and when it is mentioned they either ignore it or give out an automated reply. If only ebid / qxl were as good I would use them. Hold on ebid (IMHO) is far worse for this type of thing; qxl doesn't know what an SPV is. :) :o
