Anyone tried Dr Divx?

Hi, I'm still waitng for my phone to come thru the post and have been shrinking some moives and came across Dr Divx... Three easy steps to creating Divx movies.

I gave it a try and it seems to work, though at the moment they 'ship' it with 5.0.5 codec you just have to remove it and put 5.0.3 in...

There are extra features that you can play with when you come to encoding, like size and other stuff, and it tends to make the files 125 mb or so which is great!

Someone who really knows about these please give it a go... I know it's not free, but there is a trial out there...

I prefer Virtual Dub, its completely free and does the job quickly and easily. Also, you can roate the movies, set it in letterbox mode, and much more. Check out http://www.virtualdub.org/

Yeah I know and use VDub, tis a good program, but Dr Divs seems to just be easier...?

I've now used both but still prefer VirtualDub. Yes, Dr DivX is (much) easier, but it doesn't give you all the options virtualDub does.

As a side note, most of my coding is from DVDs so neither are suitable (Currently falling in love with FlasKMPEG again!). 200 full movies and counting!

I've heard bad things about Dr Divx from friends, buggy apparently. That was 3-4 months ago though, perhaps they've fixed it now.

Dr Divx uses divx 5.05 and you dont have quantizer options which makes divx's quality. If you will just change the resolution of the movie all u need is virtual dub. But if you will make divx from a DVD all u need is vidomi with divx codec 5.02.

I had a go with DrDivx when it first came out.

Yup - easy as pie. But there were some errors in the output file, frames from some parts of the file appeared in totally differant parts of the film!

(normally the best thing to do is use Google to find programs people have talked about...)

I have found though that using with Dr Divx Vdub you need to going to the settings somewhat to get the sample rate down, initially using the predefined levels Dr Divx has (Hi Q -> Handheld)

(sorry if this is a load of crap, out celebrating late night for I got a job yesterday and my heads a but furry :) )
