Guest Leo_dee Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 Has anyone else noticed that the battery life of the E100 is poor compared to the SPV, or have I got a faulty one?
Guest squall Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 if your phone is still new(less than a week) then you might not be getting the full life out of it, you need to carry out a few full charge/ discharge cycles to it. i find there to be no difference really, just about the same
Guest vijay555 Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 I found the same. Orange told me it oculd be related to faulty transmitters in the area, and therefore constantly seeking a signal, but dude, i live in central london! Apparently we had about all of our transmitters out last week, hence bad life - yeah right, but i used my spv again and it's battery life was astounding compared to e100. Orange made a note of my complaint and say i've got 28 days to refund, but i hope ian.s is right... i wonder whether 1.50 undoes the blessing that 1.37 was radio/battery life wise.. V
Guest Brody Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 I keep hearing such things but have noticed no difference whatsoever in my battery life compared to my old SPV.
Guest martinblack Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Also having problems on E100 battery life. After phone has had an overnight charge, it just makes it to the following evening before its flat. I've timed the 'non standy' use at under 10 mins through the day - dire! Orange kept me on hold for ages and said its the GPRS that drains it. A techo guru in my office explained it could be but how on earth do you turn it off? My last phone, a 68i had a feature for turning GPRS on and off Any help?
Guest squall Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 welcome to the site:) pressing the red end call button will kill grps, but its not connected all the time, only when the 'g' shows next to the signal bar. If you are not going on the internet etc, the main causes for the battery draining are: playing media files, phone calls, the back light being on... I find i get more than 16 hours use, thats using the phone for about 10 minutes a day, gprs - 10 minutes, media and games atlease an hour, and general use too.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 It's not the GPRS causing the problem unless you are actually using GPRS all the time. You only use the GPRS service when you check emails, browse the web etc, if you are not doing any of these then you are not using GPRS. It does look like the 1.5 update causing this so hopefully this will be fixed very soon.
Guest MECX Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 new battery test program so you can all test it woo--this is gonna be fun. :) http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=88438
Guest Brody Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 My e100 battery with 1.50 ROM beat Will's and Midnight's SPV's using Will's battery tester above! So maybe the e100's battery isnt as bad as people make out! :)
Guest MECX Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 maybe its the battery pixies playing with our minds again :)
Guest morpheus2702 Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Just out of curiousity, who is it that actually writes and tests the ROM updates - Orange, Microsoft or HTC?
Guest squall Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 updates come from a number of places, each tests there own, but with the carried testing it to before it decides if its going to release it. for example an Microsoft update is tested by microsoft, then made available to the networks, orange will test it and decide if they want to release it, or if they want changes etc. Orange, and HTC also can release updates for there software for the phone.
