Guest Matt Whitfield Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 Now that is amazing - shame you need greater than 1024x768 to see it tho...
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 In Internet Explorer...If you go to VIEW->TEXT SIZE->SMALLEST The whole thing shows on the screen. NICE!
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 That's the coolest fooking thing I've seen in ages!
Guest nobznss Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 That is the coolest thing I've ever seen!!! I used to work as a data analyst and not many appreciate ASCII as much as I do. Finally something useful to do with it!!!!
Guest Martin@Home Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 Fantastic !! Will it work under PIE ?
Guest Gorskar Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 er.... doubt it Even if it runs, which is unlikely the screen is way too small Its very impressive though I have to admit!
Guest ClintEastman Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 There is lot's of ASCII movies out there.... You can even watch the whole of "Deep Throat" if you want!!! :?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Never seen ASCII clips before  any links clint? and I don't mean the Deep Throat one
Guest siu99spj Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Thats great but I think a little 'cheating' went on there. For part of my BEng I had to make a program which converted a standard JPG/BMP into an ASCII art image. Do that to several hundred frames (All saved as pictures) and suddenly you have a movie in ASCII art. What I really like though is the Star Wars ASCIImation. All done by hand and no simplifying programs anywhere! Ah well, off to find some of these other ASCII movies again!
Guest antz Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Using aalib to produce video output in mplayer will show you an ascii film from any video file (including DivX). You can even watch it from a console window if you don't have a GUI. It will give you a headache quite fash though...
Guest James Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 wow! thats cool....... where can i get hold of more of these? or a program to do it?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 I tried to make it so that that background was black and the letters were green so it looked like the Matrix...but that inverts the image. So here's the same with a green background and black letters.ASCII Matrix.zip

Guest fraser Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 If anyone missed it, scroll back and check out the link to the star wars one. This one is, and always has been, the best ASCII movie out there. You can even telnet to the server and watch it.
Guest Martin@Home Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 Where's the star wars one then ?
Guest fraser Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 Star Wars. All the others are "cheating", using software to convert video to the ascii images. This one is hand-made. Enjoy!!
Guest Martin@Home Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Cant get it to play..... The page loads and says "done" but it just sits there. Have downloaded all the windows updates so should be runnung the correct java and browser addons :? :?
Guest fraser Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 You can also view it in a standard telnet window, which actually a bit cooler, if you know what telnet actually is all about. 8) The address is here: telnet://towel.blinkenlights.nl/
