Guest chris.owens Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 First off, thanks to everyone for the content of this site: it's really helped me get more out of my SPV. And now the query ... when I create an Activesync partnership with my SPV, it is automatically called "Smartphone". Anyone know how (if?) you can change the name? Thanks in advance, Chris.

Guest strathclydezero Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 I'm now on my 3rd SPV through a series of replacements and faults, and every time I stick a new one in the cradle I have to rename it. The first one is SmartPhone, the second was Phone and the current one is SPhone.
Guest Shuflie Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Have you tried deleting the partnership in activesync?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Yeah, deleting and re-establishing the partnership is the only way to do this :D P
Guest chris.owens Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Deleted the partnership ... reconnected ... went through the connection wizard ... and my phone is still called Smartphone! :? Sorry to be thick, but I don't see when you get an opportunity to change the name of your device, even when setting up a new connection. Thanks for the help so far ... Chris Owens.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Hmmmm, I think this is another issue altogether - i.e. where you set the phone 'name'. It should be in registry, and if we could only use the (unsigned) PHM registry editor for smartphone we could look :D Anyone know where it lives in the GUI? P
Guest madu Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 it's most likely to be in your pc name. It registers them as new devices, because some code has been changed on spv and it recognises it as different, thus different set of settings.. So it should be in regedit... you will prob. need to remove the previous entries to revert to a prev. name
