Is there a manual network unlock method?

i retrieved the unlock code but my phone says network denied..searching

i don't have a network problem as this sim works fine with my other samsung phone but the spv somehow does not prompt me for the unlock code and neither does it detect network.

is there a manual method of punching in the code after the imei number or something? i am frsutrated as hell... any help would be appreciated.

What software version do you have installed? 1.5, 1.37, Orange, Smart which...? If you "upgraded" to Smart's 1.5 it wont allow you to enter an unlock code with another SIM, even if you have one.

You need to have bootloader version v0.98 of below to be able to unlock.

To check what version you have, turn the power off then press and hold the record button

and then the power button. When the phone powers up release the keys and wait, you will then

se the Canary screen which will display you bootloader version.

Sorry Awarner, but I dont believe that your reply is entirely correct. He said he already has the unlock code, so however he got it, he must have had the correct bootloader to obtain it. After that, once he powers up his phone, it would not matter which bootloader he has, to log onto a network...what WOULD matter is if the OS version he is using BLOCKS his sim by network verification, which is what SMART's 1.5 does as it will not prompt you for the unlock code. It seems to be written into the rom somehow....(sorry if I have this wrong myself, but that is what I observed during my unlocking tests).

there was a problem with the band selection, it was only showing me a blank box instead of giving me options of gsm/pcs, i had to do a hard reset and then it started displaying the correct box for me to choose PCS here in the US and now its working. However it still did not prompt me for the unlock code, it detected the network and works, though sometimes it goes on this searching mode for some time.

now i don't know why it did not ask for the unlock code, if i use this phone in asia with a new sim i don't know if it will give me trouble again.

Was the phone second hand? sorry can't remember at the moment :oops:

If it was then there is a chance it has already been SIM unlocked.
