Guest Renwaldo Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Just a few quick questions, I use my e100 to play mp3's a lot, can anyone recommend a program that will do all or most of the folowing. Windows Media seems too intensive for my liking and I don't care about graphical displays because it just gets left in my pocket. Something basic will do me! Right, I would like the following: 1. To play tracks randomly, and save the setting if I select random play, unlike WMP where I have to tick shuffle every time I start it up. 2. To play on connect of my headphones ( I know this one is a long shot!) 3. To be basic, and not clog up system resources so that it doesn't go jumpy (as WMP sometimes does) 4. To have the ability to save playlists Oh, and last request. What directory(storage card or IPSM), and file extension do I use to save skins/homepages in? Is there a custom program that I can do this with? And, in reply to some posts on the forum, I think the battery life is crap too - a day at most!
Guest MECX Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 dont think there are any programs offering the features you want-- a program called pocketMVP plays MP3's and i think has a basic playlist feature. for your homescreeen question-- if the home screens come in the form of a .hme extension or a .cab extension all you have to do it place them on your storage card and then use a program such as smartexplorer to execute them (or you could place a shortcut in IPSM/application data/start menu and execute that from your programs menu) if the home screen is in the form of a XML and jpg you need to place it in the IPSM/application data/home folder then select it from the settings/homescreen bit of your phone by the way if you want freeware programs go to www.monolithix.org after you have unlocked your phone OTA
Guest Renwaldo Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I've unlocked the phone already, and downloaded all of monolithix's files (thanks :) - but I wish you had them all in one big zip!) Thanks for the info regarding home screens Argh my mp3's! My T68i (optional mp3 add on player)was able to do this 'Random play at connect' feature, why can't a much better phone do it? I mean, I love the phone, but i NEED this feature! :o Any ideas
Guest MECX Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 there have been many complaints about the windows media player, there cant be another player to far away from release, all you can do (as you do alot with this phone) is wait for an update or new software. Thing is this phone wasnt designed as an MP3 player but as a phone with an MP3 player--so it dont have the functionality of a dedicated one (or a plug in module), i agree tho this feature would be great to have---im sure some boffin will be able to work sumthin out. 8)
Guest Gorskar Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I'm sure its possible, needs to be able to pick up a switch to headhones profile and start playing. Maybe suggest it to Galaga (the man behind PocketMVP if I remember rightly) Would probably need a small background process to watch for the profile change though.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Maybe suggest it to Galaga (the man behind http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?t=61676>PocketMVP if I remember rightly) It was Malloc who ported Pocket MVP to SMartphone :)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I'll add a download all link if thats what you want... :) Soon as i get my ADSL back at home that is.
Guest MECX Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I'll add a download all link if thats what you want... good plan 8)
Guest Renwaldo Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 The headphone attaching and playing feature would just be a bonus, what I really want is a plyer that remembers my settings for next time, and doesn't chug along and jump bits because it's too damn clogged up with windows crap.
Guest midnight Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 use wma files they play a lot better than mp3's are smaller and offer same quality of encoded correctly as for remembering settings, just needs a player to be made that can do that stuff
