Guest chickster Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 As we all know, media player takes an age to start up when you select the icon. I have found a way of making it start alot quicker. If you use smart explorer (or any other explorer application!) and create a shortcut to one of the songs and put it at the root of your storage card (or a temp directory) you can then select the shortcut through explorer and media player seems to start almost immediately. Does anyone know why this is? I have come across a slight problem with it working with mp3's (dont know why though) but you only need to create one shortcut and .wma's aren't hard to make. Hope this helps :) :o :P
Guest Vector Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 err Media Player may start up quicker, but it takes longer tan that to open up smartexplorer and find the mp3 file on your staorage card doesn't it ? hehe, well done finding it out anyway, and yeh, if you create a shortcut to it and put it in your start menu, that would probably work... :)
Guest chickster Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 thats why I suggested putting it in the root so its easy to find or like you say in the start menu. it does seem weird that it will start up quicker this way rather than opening it normally, or though I suppose it doesnt have to search the phone for available tracks.
Guest Simon Desser Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Doesn't this only play the one song you select, rather than playing all the songs on your card? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest chickster Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 you can then select local content to play the other tracks(admittedly this is when it takes the time to search!) - so in short don't bother!!!
Guest Eleventh Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 You can make an asx playlist and then made a shortcut of it on the startmenu. That way it will load all your mp3s faster and its organized as it will play according to your preferences. :) i use the playlist creator on monolithix site.
