So my ADSL has been dead since last week while we change ISP's, and i've been playing GTA Vice City a hell of a lot more.

Checking through ths install dir yesterday i found the [vehicle] handling.cfg, the file that holds all vehicle stats, max speed, size, weight, accelloration, center of gravity, gears, engine type, traction, about 30 options in all.

So i've been playing, with....interesting results. I've attached a few screenies of the results :)

Heh, i later found out that it was due to me setting its center of gravity 10m below the ground doing that to any vehile has similary spectacular results.

I'm currently working on perfecting the 50 tonne, 1000kph Cheetah. With stock stats, high accelleration (150mps^2), 1000kph top speed and 50 tonne weight it just skidded everywhere. Upping the traction means it now wouldnt skid on a sheet of ice ;p. Unfortunately it means high speed turns just flip the car, painful at a large chunk of 1000kph, heh.

Heh, yeah sure. For the most spectacular results put the y-axis centre of gravity for a vehicle at -10m, then run into or shoot the car your modified..wheeee.

I'll post my Cheetah stats too, see if anyone can handle them ;p

its an ace game, I just cant find that last hidden package no matter where I look - Ive downloaded a guide to finding them from the internet too, but still no luck gr!

Would have really benefitted from a multiplayer mode though.

Gorskar, did you keep track of the hidden packages that you know for 100% you collected? It's essential in getting them all, as it reduces the numbers of "maybes". The "prize" is very much worth it though!!

I kicked the ass out of both GTA3 and GTA3:VC for the PS2, the former is the reason I bought the console. I've borrowed a copy of the PC version to have a much around with the modable stuff, there are some great sites on the web. Some of the mods are brilliant, like the Back to the Future mod for the Delorian.

Don't you just get access to the Apache when you get all the packages? Doesn't seem that great when you get that for completing the core missions anyway.

Thats what I understand.

Although there is another apache in the army base - you can get it if you're wearing a police uniform.

Id still like to find that last package though - the helipad where the other apache is supposed to appear is alot easier to get to.

On the PS2 version, the Apache at the base is the one you get for the packages and there is only one. You don't need the police uniform, you get a 50/50 chance of getting out alive if you don't bother getting it first. Difficult though!! My save game has Tommy in the uniform already

My save game currently has tommy in his hockymask suit, looks very cool. I believe there are two apaches in the PC version, one in the army base and one for getting all hidden packages.

Take a look at the VC area of www.gtaforums.com, there are millions of hidden "surprises". Pictures of Candy on your office wall in the mansion (sp) once you complete the film studio missions, smashed hidden package with a white powder spilling out once you get all hidden packages etc...great fun.

Yep, seen that one before too :)

I've always liked the interactive flash map at http://www.oddweb.net/gta4/index.asp. Has map of all objects, as well as pictures. Very handy for those hidden packages. You can use the players map in the screenshot of the object to pinpoint the exact location.

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but how exactly do you edit a CFG file?

How do you open it and what do you type in to get these.........results?

Thanx.

oggvorbis: open the files in notepad and there are instructions commented out in all modifiabe files.

(77% complete btw :))

Who's with me in wanting to see a Vice City for Smartphone. Obviously it would have to be a bit more simple, but it would be so cool. Developers...

Not a chance!! GTA: VC pushes the PS2 and PC pretty much to the limit, the current phones have no chance. Maybe in 3-4 years, when they ship with 3D cards (and floating point math  ). Maybe a port of the original top-down GTA might be possible, but comparing that to the latest version kinda makes it a bit lame.

Well they did get GTA working on the Game Boy. The fact that it was so crap that nobody bought it (Black and white didn't help) might be what killed it off.

As for GTA3/VC, ever thought about the controls? Its hard enough on a PC with 102 keys and an (8 button) mouse!
