Guest Honest John Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 I use my SPV (a) mainly as a phone and (:) as a mobile secretarial aid to sync with Outlook. Not particularly interested in connecting to the Internet through it (too slow, expensive and I have fast access at work and home through my PC). The odd game is fun when commuting (thanks Railtrack for the buckling track that gives me so much extra time to play the b****ygames) So.............I am interested in decent service plans. Currently, I use the OVP 250 plan that gives free texts, free Voice Mail retrieval and rollover for £35.00 per month. (Still overspend on that though.) Those free voice mail retrievals save you a fortune if Gareth Gates leaves a message. And the free texts are handy too. [Thanks for the loyalty to existing customers (not), big O] I think Orange have shot themselves in the foot, though, with their standard plans as many of the "Yesterday I worked in McDonalds - today I am a Mobile phone consultant" types in the High Street CarphonesforULink stores don't tell new punters about the OVP plans and good ol' Orange loses out to the other networks. However, wait till 3 gets a Smartphone instead of housebricks. I'll be off, for one.
Guest gatwickguyz Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 However, wait till 3 gets a Smartphone instead of housebricks. I'll be off, for one. Be very careful leaving Orange for Three. I've been with them since May and have had so many problems with them, they have agreed to let me out of my 'Kit' £59.99 per month tariff contract free of charge. About the first decent thing they've done with me!
Guest amo Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Not enough information given for me to calculate an appropriate monthly tarrif unfortunatly. Either, a) post or pm me you average monthly spend, no of txt msgs sent, total no of minutes of calls made, wether they are cross net or not etc etc. All this can be found on your bill. Better still, scan in and send me a copy of a couple of previous bills and ill tell you what is best suited for you.
Guest Honest John Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Ain't got a problem in working out my bill or the best plan. My point was that the OVP plan that gives 50 extra minutes X-net plus free texts plus free Voice mail is better than Orange's own plans and, although it is available, the shop lads don't promote OVP. On 3G network - and I am grateful for the warning in post 2 by gatwickguy2 above - 500 minutes for £25 or 750 minutes for £35 knocks the pants off any of the major 4 players. (No good if the coverage or reliability is crap, though). Gatwickguy2 - what was the trouble? :?:
Guest Coucou Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 I'm still on Everyday 50, can't get text bundles though :) think I might change sometime but I do like talking too, 50 minutes a day might be a touch excessive.

It is now so bad, that we are thinking of paying the remaining eight months of the contract just to get rid of Three. When you have to do that, it makes all the other four look wonderful value...
Guest amo Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Personally I wouldnt touch 3 again for another 2 years or so based on my own experience with them...
