Batch/Scripting program - IDEA ONLY

People: was thinking - a few of us use custom ringtones, profiles, apps and [in my case] custom control panel screens.

However, these get overwritten at reboot if stored on phone (not IPSM)

Was wondering if it might be possible to knock together as an ongrowing project a batch file interpreter.

We'd need to code, at first, copy, delete, move and possibly echo, i guess, which are very straightforward commands to write i spose (i'm not good enough at C++ to write it myself :cry: )

So if we could write an interpreter, you could script commands in a sort of .bat file, eg

DEL windowsroot.cpl.xml

COPY root.cpl.xml windows

etc

perhaps this is too niche a project, but since we've got homebrew file explorers, this is just a CLI version of the basic commands, and would allow automation of a few functions.

Perhaps this can all be done in CABs, but i'm an old skool DOS man. and this would allow for greater flexbility.

Any thoughts?

You have an ace idea there. We too have thought of that too. We have so far half hacked into an Orange 8mb card that came with our original phone. In it we have deleted all software but kept the auto run file. All we did was replace the software we wanted to be autorun at reboot and add the lines to a txt type file. Now whenever we remove and replace the card (which we have found works everytime!!) ....the card still thinks its loading our settings we saved in txt file, and Smartexplorer. this is a good work around. As all we then have to do after a HR- is to descert via orange dev site, and then replce the backup of "Start Menu".

Maybe I am not upto your batch writting but I thought I would share what my and my wife had done.

Hey nixy, someone's written an autoinstaller, autorun.exe program, that will automatically install the first cab it finds in the the 2577 directory. i keep smartexplorer in that directory, like you, so any time you need to, just pop the card in and smartexplorer will install... see if you can find the program - a life saver for me, otherwise i'll post it up.

I think it would be great to have a tiny program that would just copy a file from one dir to another. i might have to look into writing it myself :) since no one else seems interested!

I was wondering if you have used the new ROM update for the swedish E100.

(at least i think its swedish)

We have updated a few days ago and had a marked improvement in both stability and speed.

It seems that this update at www.q-tek.nu has unlocked both our phones from the softeware lock AND the SIM lock.

Only had a small problem with installing though as it had to be restarted into 3colour mode after a full hard reset as it wouldnt install through the phones windows version.

T9 is the only real problem though as the English T9 dll has now been replaced with a non English version.
