hi,

i'm off abroad for a few weeks and want to leave my phone on in the UK to log texts and calls. Would leaving it plugged into the charger constantly knacker the phone or battery if left for 3+ weeks?

Other option i thinking about is putting it on a timer so it only has power to charge for about half an hour a day.

Would either way be a problem. Dont want to take phone with me really.

Thanks

Should be ok, not sure about 3+ weeks though!

The battery in the SPV is a Li-Ion (Lithium Ion), this type of battery is less prone to the "memory effect" that affected older Ni-Cad and (to a lesser extent) NiMh batteries.

With older batteries you should completely discharge the battery before recharging; you don't need to do this with Li-Ion's, and they are supposed to prefer regular top-ups rather than complete charge / discharge cycles.

I'd say you should be fine, but don't sue me if your phone melts! :)

While I'm not sure about the charging issue, I've found that if left on for a long time without any reboots (a week or so) the phone will sometimes stop talking to the network (won't make, receive calls/texts), even though it shows a signal strength.

Not sure if this is a common issue, but just something to consider.

the phone doesnt keep chargeing when its full, im pritty sure it just keeps the battery topped up---it should be fine--although maybe worth sticking it on a surge protector---ive had a TV booster blown and a modem by lightening strikes :? :? a couple of weeks ago
