HELP!!!!!! Mitac Mio 8380 OS Changed To Chinese.

Help!!

The Mitac Mio 8380 that I received in the US had an Enlish Operating System. It was working fine until I inserted the media card that came with the phone. I think the phone installed some CAB file from the card and put the entire Operating System into Chinese (I think). I tried changing the language tab in Settings to English, but it didn't do anything.

Help!! I don't Understand :shock: Chinese!!!!!!

I'm afraid you may have to be patient for a reply to your question due to the phone not being widely

available yet. Hopefully someone will be able to answer your question though.

As a suggestion take a look around the site Hardware and For Sale sections as

some of the few mitac owners may be able to help you.

i think the 'cstar' application might be to blame, if you run it on an spv, it gets VERY upset..

Visiting the irc channel some mio owner might be able to talk you thru language changing..

(well there ain't much you can do with the mio until we get it unlocked)

I think that is exactly what happened. I'm willing to do a hard reset of the phone if it will clear the Cstar.cab. Does anyone know if that will put the phone back in English?

Ya, cstar.cab does that. I just go into Programs -> Settings -> Regional Settings and set language to US English again.

That did the trick, although navigating the menus in Chinese was an adventure.

I did it too and no one even MiTAC person cannot help me this. But after trial and error I got the way to Hard Reset it back... You just push the record button (on the right side of your mobile) while push the on button. This will hard reset your phone to english version again. Please wait for the system to restore it may take serveral minutes.
