Guest davy Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 first person to make e-news work wins a prize! :? :) :o You can manually transfer downloaded e-news from your PC (data folder in program file) to the e-books folder on your SPV. Not ideal but it works. davy.

Guest martin Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 first person to make e-news work wins a prize! Well I give up :) I can see Mobipocket as a Mobile Device in the Microsoft Activesynch options and I can even tick the box to enable it. The problem is when I attach the SPV as it automatically disables the Mobipocket as a device again . Maybe Mobipocket not being recognised in the SPV as a synch option ? Is anyone else still havng problems ?
Guest idavid Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 i have the exact same symptoms. bloomin' annoying! would really like this to work as it would be like killing two birds with one stone. the ebook bird and the avantgo bird that is...
Guest Animefan Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 What is this Mobipocket Reader thing actually?
Guest idavid Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 its an e-book reader, with the added functionality of e-news, which regularly downloads news from certain sites that you can specify while your phone is hooked up to your computer to view on the move later. only e-news doesnt actually work...
Guest Animefan Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Where do you get these eBooks? And what is they ?
Guest idavid Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 they are 'electronic' books. for mobipocket you need to download them from www.mobipocket.com you can also get other ebook formats, such as .txt which are available at www.blackmask.com these can be read with something else, like orneta reader.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Has anyone contacted MobiPocket about the enews not actually working? That's what I wanna use it for ;-) P

Guest cyrilthefish Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 doh! i wanted to use this software for my existing ebooks. But it seems like it doesn't support the microsoft reader format (.lit) :) any idea if microsoft are planning a smartphone version of microsoft reader?
Guest goinnuts Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 copy then paste them into notepad if you can, then publish them. once youve done that it reads them no probs.
Guest idavid Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 finally got a response from mobipocket about the lack of enews working. i asked them if they knew there was a problem and if they could fix it. their response... Hi Ian, We corrected this isssue, but it still requires the SPV to be unlocked. Please reinstalled everything from : http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/...ReaderStep1.asp Kind regards, Mobipocket Support Team i gave it a try but without any success. in fact i dont think they have changed the software at all. i am pretty sure the download is exactly the same as it was before. they definately havent upgraded the verison number, or anything sensible like that. if anyone else has any luck, let me know.... :?
Guest nixy Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 itns ot on, is it mate!!!. I have been following your thread about MobilePocket as I too am interested in the news option. Its nice of them to reply but I dont understand why they have indeed done nothing to sort out the software. We tried re-downloading but its exactly the same file. Makes one wonder what they are up to doesnt it

Guest idavid Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 another little tidbit from mobipocket... Hello, We are currently investigating this issue with not being able to sync enews even though the phone is unlocked, which appears to be due to an instability in the Smartphone 2002 OS. We hope to provide an update as soon as possible. Synchronisation of enews by email on the other hand, works on all phones. maybe something will happen one day
Guest Overheat Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Sorry if this is a stupid question for you people but I'm a bit of a n00b in this business: I can't seem to remove MobiPocket from my phone. Is there an easy way to do it besides using ActiveSync or is it just un-uninstallable? Cheers.
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 On your SPV Programs // Settings // More... // Remove Programs Should work...
