Please Help with X,Y & Height in XML

Hiya all

I have finally decided its about time i started doing my own homescreens!

Following advice found here i have been messing about with other peoples skins */ooer vicar/*

I have checked out the plugin article and understand all the theory.

A bit of trial and error has produced mixed results.

In particular I need help with the x y coords and heigth tags. They dont seem to be working the way i expect, is there an explanantion somewhere.

Does anybody have a coord grid.

Can plugins overlap?

Hi there,

The X, Y and W are counted from the upper left corner of your plugin space

X and Y locate l=the place of where exactly the plugin shows

The W gives the space till where the plugin can go

For example:

X = 50

Y = 10

W = 150 (from X,Y till it reach the 150 pixels further from the left side of the screen)

H = Height as well so if a plugin's text would fill 3 lines but you only want it to fill 2 then you could set the height to equal 2 * the font size :)

Thanks for the help i had kinda figured that would be how it worked.

The problem i am having is sort of answered elsewhere i wanted the icon bar to be on the top right and the carrier to be at the same height on the top left of the screen can this be done?

I understand the x,y coord, (is topmost left the point of orig 0,0?)

I dont understand the height tag though, what is the minimum height for the carrier and icon plugins?

how do plugins get pushed down at a fixed height or does it relate to the height tag.

Errrrr, u confused me too!

The height command dictates how much space text can take up inside of the total height of the plugin... Make sense? So u could have a plugin that is 50 tall but then have text inside of it that is limited to 12 pixels in height (h=""12") Yeah?? :)

the icon bar is a seperate plugin the the carrier. they cant share lines

u can have the carrier at the top left but under the height of the bar.

if plugins could share lines it would be nice. also if things like the mru plugin could show the app name only on select it would be nice....

and if the lcd plugin was in english!!!!!
