Is it possible that Modaco is kicking me offline?

I know this is a stretch...

I have a cable modem and have been losing my connection alot recently. Normally it works flawlessly...except for the past week.

Probably a coincidence...but I keep losing my connection and it's always after I post on Modaco. Is there ANY possibility that there is something being thrown to my PC that may cause me to lose my connection. Or cause my provider to drop my connection or something like that?

Very unlikely that modaco is causing the problem. Are you in the UK? Perhaps the unusual heat is causing problems with your kit? Not unheard of...I've seen hard drives and PSUs die when the temp goes up.

He's in the US ;p

It's unlikely its MoDaCo, most likely its your cable company being crap. Call them up and moan :)

From what i've been told, US cable networks are NAT'ed a dozen times before you hit the internet-proper, may be an issue there...

Just a strange coincidence that this is the only site it's been happening on. I'll call the cable company. When I unplug my modem and plug it back in to reset it....it works again.

I'll call the cable company. Thanks.

You might be thinking that just because you spend a lot of time at Modaco :)

That's what I was thinking.....too much time. I need to get an additional hobby :)

On a slightly 'off topic' off topic, I'm finding that the MoDaCo pages are taking much longer to load (I'm using Broadband). All other sites still seem ok, but this one is noticably different.

I'm in the same boat....the forums takes the longest to load.

A bit jaded by broadband but it takes 20-25 seconds sometimes.

Have you got call waiting?

If you are online (cable) and someone calls you, it often disconnects you.

I had this problem for a while, I stopped call waiting now no probs at all.

Just a thought

My phone doesn't go thru my cable. It goes thru my telephone lines.

My caable is just for TV & Internet.

Does your telephone go thru your cable connection?

Have you installed a firewall lately, if you lose connection every few hours, it may be blocking the cable modem renewing its ip address.

I know it happened to me

The same firewall that I've always had (Norton).

BUT...I did re-install after crashing my PC.

That COULD be the reason! I'll look into that now.

Thanks.
