Guest FrankyG Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 as above...trying to ease myself into Monday by browsing for new kit, damn office firewall not making it easy :)
Guest Gorskar Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Well I could sell you my 40gb hard disk, and put the money towards a bigger one :) Warning - if you ever end up with a 10Mb internet connection in your room at Uni you can kiss your hard disk space goodbye
Guest FrankyG Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 I'm listening.... more info pleeze :) Pm if you want with spec etc etc... cheers...
Guest FrankyG Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 I have a 120 Gig one I may part with maybe a bit bigger than I had planned, but if the price is right...
Guest amo Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Nah go to ebuyer.com - prices for hard drives has just crashed so it wouldnt be worth it for me to part with a 120Gb hd I paid over £100 for. You can get a 60Gb one for £44.24 inc VAT "http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=43159). An 80 Gig one here for £56.57 inc VAT (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=43192)
Guest FrankyG Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 yeah, see what you mean re prices-thanks for the links. related to the new drive, thinking of sticking windows XP on the new drive, i know my system will run it ok but do you think it will be sluggish? PIII 933 with 256Mb RAM... any thoughts...? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 No problems with that system at all, XP is a memory hogger, CPU aint ~that~ important (this work machine is a P3 500 with 256MB RAM). If it gets too unbearable, upgrading to 512MB memory will make a world of difference.
Guest amo Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 Im on xp 1800 with only 256 ram and it always gets sluggish when im developing. It doenst like running photoshop, fireworks, flash, dreamweaver (used only for layers, f33r my notepad power :)), msn, few ie windows and prolly a few other apps in the background....for general use though 256 is perfect.
