Guest NikLP Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Hey... Have a problem getting WAV ringtones to work, very annoying. I made a loop in CoolEdit 2000 from an mp3 I exported it as a WAV (tried both PCM and ADPCM) Have directory IPSMApplication DataSounds Have 'ringtone.wav' in this directory Ringtone appears on the Sounds menu Phone plays stupid beep instead after I allocate this tone Have also tried tweaking registry (a la Midnight's tips) with similar failure Argh Help, please :) Is there an export setting I'm getting wrong somewhere in CoolE2k? I've not seen any bit rates or anything on wav export dialogs. Regards, Nik
Guest James Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 try downgrading the quality of the wavs mate EDIT:doh..did not see this bit:- "Is there an export setting I'm getting wrong somewhere in CoolE2k? I've not seen any bit rates or anything on wav export dialogs."
Guest NikLP Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Unbelievably, I don't have a net connection at home at the moment. I'm sat in the library in Notts. I will be back on 56k this week. Oh joy. Hence, I'm trying to do it with s/ware that I've got already!! :) Cool Edit, anyone...?
Guest Simon Desser Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Here's what you need to do, once you've got your file open in Cool Edit, click "EDIT", then towards the bottom "Convert Sample Type" then change the rate to either :- 16000Hz 8 Bit Resolution, Mono, OR, 11025Hz 16 Bit Resolution, Mono, then do a "Save as" PCM wave file. Either of these will work well on your phone. The first one gives a slightly smaller file size, and keeps a bit more treble in the sound, but also picks up a bit of hiss which can be noticeable in the quiet bits. Hope this helps :)
