Guest mattscholey Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Just out of interest. I'm planning to buy one for my new phone soon - probably going to get 256Mb. Post your comments on what you store, and how much you can fit on your SD card. Matt
Guest Crispy Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 256MB here ... and I must say, its worth every cent I paid for it! ... and I use it to store almost anything you could name
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 Only a 125Mb MMC for me. I got MMC over SD so I could use it with my SL45. I don't fancy taking my lovely (yet fragile) out to clubs. This way I can pop my 128 into my sl45 and enjoy all my fave mp3's without risking the SPV.
Guest Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 256mb for me. Used to have a 128mb, and then a month after buying that I found I could get a 256mb for the same money and get a San Disk Cruzer card reader thrown in as well! I mainly use my card for storing wma's - at the lowest bit rate (48kbps) I can fit 10 albums onto the card; and still have room for applications, photos I've taken, a few film trailers, and 3 episodes of South Park, etc, etc. Get the bigest one you can afford - you will fill it! At the moment 256mb seems the best value in terms of £s per mb (512mb and 1gig are nice but you do pay a premium).
Guest vijay555 Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 256: £50, future expansion, works with all sd devices (700 photos on my minolta camera!) >256 too expensive right now. Go for 256 = 6 episodes of simpsons, 100 songs or so, all my installations files (40 mb, lextionary, smartexplorer, ipsm backup etc!) no question mate! V
Guest casper508 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Have had a 128 for nearly 8 months now. Often run out of space with all the new apps being developed. I'd go a for atleast a 256 or wait a month or two and see what the 512 drops to. Cas
Guest casper508 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Just realised someone has a 1GB one too !!!
Guest Vector Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Just realised someone has a 1GB one too !!! I saw that to :? 256mb for mem just the right size for my MP3's :)
Guest b1uepower Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 i got a 128 sd card.. it came with free postage so i was happy...
Guest goinnuts Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 128mb mmc, 5 year warranty on a lexar. full though now, am gonna have to save for 512.
Guest yoos Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 My 256 is almost full!!! I need a bigger one or another 256.... I would love a 512 or 1 gig if they weren't so darn expensive...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I have a 128MB but it's way too small :) oneday I'll get a bigger one :?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 A 128 i blagged from work :) Ordered a 32meg yesterday (at last) for backups.
Guest cyrilthefish Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 eep! I've just realised how many different memory cards i have littering my room  1x 48mb CF 1x 8mb CF 1x 32mb Smartmedia 1x 128mb MMC (in my room somewhere!) 1x 32mb MMC 2x 8mb SD (took one apart when bored) 1x 256mb SD
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 I choose the SPV partly because it takes SD cards the same as my digital camera - I've now got 2 x 256
Guest greg7901 Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 had a 64mb but lost it...so bought an 128mb kingmax one
Guest legalbeagle Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 The cards are so small, it is easy to carry a couple of spare 256s in your wallet - essential if you want to keep a couple of movies on you for bored moments. Only downside is having to have multiple copies of some programs, such as IA Explore and TaskManager.
Guest cyrilthefish Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Only downside is having to have multiple copies of some programs, such as IA Explore and TaskManager Personally, i keep taskmanager and smartexplorer installed in the IPSM, as they really are essential ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 I just have them on each card so no matter what card I put in I always have the apps to use. Saves installing them on the phone, and also they only use a few KB so it's not really any problem.
Guest kingdom master Posted November 17, 2003 Report Posted November 17, 2003 1 gig, which is cool will be testing alot bigger soon. awarner i will contact u soon for the sd card. im trying to arrange u a 512 one.
