Guest Scarfman007 Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Hi, I've often wanted to contribute something towards the SPV software side of things, but my C++ programming skills are only just approaching reasonable ... so that was always out of the question! But Java, that's another matter (technically I know, mebbe it isn't). I'm quite excited about getting to grips with writing JAVA apps for the SPV (sad? maybe), but does anyone know any more information about the implementation on the SPV? It's MIDP, right? Which version? MIDP is a sub set of normal desktop JAVA? I'm guessing I can get extra help from the Sun website, but anyone know any other useful sites? Any suggestions as to what (simple! this is MIDP ... ) apps you'd like to see on your SPV (Sorry, I mean Mio)? Cheers for any help, Scarfman
Guest Terwin Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 The app says IBM MIDP 2.0. Hope that helps. Can use jar and jad files.
Guest Scarfman007 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Yes it does, thanks. This is the new version :). Downloading the J2ME Wireless Toolkit & API now, hope this is what I need ... I'd be most greatful to anyone with any experiance in MIDP app writing who can suggest any sources of help! So, no one with any ideas of what JAVA apps they'd like to see on their Smartphones? Scarfman TO MODS: maybe this should be moved to Development forum? I only posted it here because I was also asking for software app ideas..
