Unlock code?

Do I still need my unlock code whenever I do a HARD reset?

I had my phone unlocked and used 1.3.7.8 with bootloader version 0.99.

Unfortunately I lost the unlock code and code not retrieve it with SPVUNLOCK anymore.

I just need to know if I still need the code when I hard reset.
