Guest mvsmith07 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Hi Has anyone encountered problems with copying LARGE files to the SPV using Active Sync (v3.7)? I'm trying to copy an 82Mb file across to a 256Mb SD Media Card. There is more than enough space left on the media card. Active Sync starts the copy and gets to about 40-50% complete, but then reverts back to about 20% complete. I've left it supposedly copying for a good half an hour or more and haven't been able to successfully copy the file. Anyone with any ideas would be great. Thanks Mark
Guest jim80b Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 i also get this sometimes. either buy a card reader (mine arives in next few days) should take less than a minute..... or use smartcopy takes long also but works... or wait (like 45mins - 1hour for a 90 meg for me)
Guest mvsmith07 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Cheers Jim80b. I'll let it run for a good while and see if it's successful. I'm assuming SMARTCOPY is a separate utility I can get from somewhere on the Internet.
Guest Brody Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Here's SmartCopy... There's a beta app in the Plus section of the forum as well that is looking promising... You'll need to be a Plus member though of course (refer me if you decide to take the plunge and be plus'd!)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 As mentioned above a card reader is the best bet for large or numerous file transfers. Have a look at www.ebuyer.com for a cheap card reader, you can get a 6 in 1 for just over £10
Guest muff Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 another thing to be aware of if you are copying a file to the phone, and a file with that name already exists where you are copying to, then it attempts to transfer the file BEFORE deleting the old file this means that you can get 'out of space' errors with large files if there is not enough space for the file to go onto the card along with the current content if you manually delete the old file first, then it will transfer fine
