Guest Brody Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Whilst searching WindowsForDevices.com i found the following: Aug. 04, 2003 Intel announced a new series of kits for optimizing performance and power consumption in mobile wireless applications running on the company's XScale processors, in devices such as cell phones and PDAs. Each "optimization kit" will include an XScale-based handheld device along with a CD that contains software development kits, optimization documentation, sample code, and links to Intel optimization resources, Intel said. According to Intel, vendors using the kits in preliminary trials have reported performance improvements ranging from 50 percent for a mobile gaming application, to 2000 percent for a fingerprint recognition application; and one company reported a 25 percent increase in battery life in its videoconferencing application. The first of the kits, released today, comes with a Pocket PC PDA based on an Intel PXA255 XScale processor. Software tools provided in the kit include Intel's VTune Performance Analyzer software along with Intel's C++ Compiler for Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++. The kit is available online for $999. Future kits will include other XScale-based PDA and wireless handset devices, and will support alternate operating system platforms including Microsoft Smartphone, Linux, and Palm OS, Intel said. I'm sure you'll all agree that any increase in performance and battery life is worth the effort! :)
Guest muff Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 but how many developers can afford the $999
Guest CamperBoy Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 Thought the title of this post was a demand :)
