How do you note phone number during active call?

On any other GSM phone, what I´ve been using so far, was possible to "note" any other phone number during active phone call by simply pressing numeric buttons. When the phone call finished, that number remained on screen and was possible to dial it. This basic functionality does not work on SP or I´m doing something wrong. I can press numeric buttons during phone call but once the call is gone, those numbers dissapear as well. Why I need it? For example - you talk with somebody in the car and the person will tell you to dial another number. So you cannot look for a piece of paper to note it, just "note" it as number sequence in the phone without need to go through menu and create new contact or without opening notes or so. Simply and easy. Any idea?

I'm not sure if you lose the number as you say but you could always hit the Home button and the navigate to your contacts and add it that way, it wont cut off the call! :)

Sure, but in the car, when the phone is in the crandle, it´s a lot of additional (dangerous) steps. Why is not possible to do it simple, as on any other phone? I mean, I expected, that phone functionality will be at least simmilar to my old phones and will bring a lot of extras. I did not expect that basic features like insertion of phone number from a contacts in the SMS/e-mail or that number notes functionality will not work... :-(

Can set up notepad on a quickdial (or use xbar for near-one click access), so in call - press record, 0 (for shortcut), and notepad will be on screen.

Tap away, Mr McManneron, tap away.

Fine. And can you dial numbers from notepad directly then? Or you will have to remember it and type it again to dial? Hmmm...

How about this:

When in the call, type in the number as you did in the past. Then press the call button (or Menu / Call). The quickly cancel it before it has a chance to ring the new number.

When you have finished your first call, you can go into the recent call history and do what you like with it. Note, in call history, the 'email' menu command will also let you send a text message - so don't be put off by that!

That's how I did it on my old Nokia too, since it wasn't completely foolproof either.
