Guest Dafunky Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Hi! These are about 30 Boot screen (or splash screens) in order to tweak and customize your SPV to the maximum! See my post below to see how to install them manually, waiting for a magic .cab file..... :?: Notice: you can set 4 "screens" on your SPV: two appearing during the boot, and two others while the shutdown. A small txt file included explain how to set them (you'll have to use the registry). I hope you'll enjoy them. DaFunky boot_screen.zip
Guest goinnuts Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 could you please post an idiots guid to doing this as i've never messed with reg settings before  and i really dont want to bugger my phone up again. thanx.
Guest Dafunky Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 HOW to set new bootscreens  First Step Install a registry editor on your smartphone, like PHM Registry Editor (free/non signed) Optionnal: you can access to your smartphone registry directly from your computer using the Windows CE Registry Editor but you'll have to install Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ 3 to get it. Second Step Create some a new key and its values in the registry. You can change the path for the files but put them in IPSM. 1- HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftSplash Screen create the Splash Screen key: put the cursor on any key in the directory "microsoft" then clic on "menu" -> "new key" : call it Splash Screen. Then enter this key: clic on it. Now go to the "values mode" to create new values: clic on 'values'.Then you can follow: 2- CarrierBitmap : IPSMBootimage1.gif (Image GIF 176x220 256 colors - String Type) Clic on "menu"->"new value"->"string" : the value name is 'CarrierBitmap' and the 'value data' is your file path 'IPSMetc...' 3- CarrierShutdownBitmap 4- MSBitmap 5- MSShutdownBitmap 6- CarrierShutdownTimeout : 2000 (DWord Type) Clic on "menu"->"new value"->"Dword" and fill... 7- MSShutdownTimeout : 15000 (DWord Type) Clic on "menu"->"new value"->"Dword" and fill... Last:quit the registry and restart. Good luck, DaFunkyregistry.gif
Guest drblow Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Hello there Dafunky - & welcome to the forum!! Also, congratulations on an impressive first post!! :) 2 questions... 1 - have you any idea if these reg changes work on all ROM versions?? If you have read the thread about Midnight's recent AlienInvention2 skin, then you will know he has just been the first to create a skin which incorporates startup/shutdown screens. However, there has been some reports of different ROM versions having varying results - some startup screens only, some shutdown screens only, some none at all! I have ROM version 1.3.5.6. - which gives me the startup screens but not the shutdown. I just wonder do you know about this? I'm quite dubious about editing my registry until I'm quite sure it will work!! 2 - what is that 'remote registry editor' program you have there??? Are you just using CERDISP??
Guest goinnuts Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 many thanx. this is excellent. can you jpg or just gifs? thanx again
Guest Dafunky Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 1 - have you any idea if these reg changes work on all ROM versions?? .... I'm quite dubious about editing my registry until I'm quite sure it will work!! My help comes from the work of Midnight with its skin Alien Invention2. In fact I've discovered the registry keys in a new on www.smartphonefrance.com talking about Midnight's work (Thanks to him by the way). I can't assure it will work on your phone. I suppose that if you give the right path for your screens you won't take risks. But maybe the images won't appear as for the Midnight ones... 2 - what is that 'remote registry editor' program you have there??? Are you just using CERDISP?? As I've said it above, if you install Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ recently replaced by windows CE.Net you'll get a tool called Remote Registry Editor which will connect to your smartphone device and let you access the registry. (I think you'll have to install the smartphone SDK as well, but I'm not sure...). As you can see it's a bit more complex than CerDisp.... can you jpg or just gifs? Only GIF 256 176*220 -It's not my first post but my second account :) - DaFunky
Guest drblow Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 -It's not my first post but my second account :P - DaFunky Cheater!!! :) :o Cheers for the tips! I'll try the reg edit anyway for the shutdown screens & let you know if it works.
Guest Crispy Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Suddenly THESE images come to mind   :)
Guest binky_p Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 6- CarrierShutdownTimeout : 2000 (DWord Type) Clic on "menu"->"new value"->"Dword" and fill... 7- MSShutdownTimeout : 15000 (DWord Type) Clic on "menu"->"new value"->"Dword" and fill... is it possible to change 2000 and 15000 values to a lower value?....coz in my case, i "accidentally" placed a value of "1500" instead of the 15000 you've written...is there an effect in my smartphone then?...fortunately, my smartphone works perfectly well up to this time...
Guest Brody Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 Reducing the shutdown time could be the cause of problems fro your phone if you set it too low as it will not have long enough to perform the required functions before turning off! I would prefer to have it set longer thanshorter for this reason, otherwise i would think that you're opening yourself upto a potential auto Hard reset :?
Guest bamboo Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 The shutdown screen doesn't work on mine. But Thanks anyway.

Guest LarsDK Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Very nice... it worked for me on the first try. I really love this feature. THX... :)
Guest howitzer_89 Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 help! ...it worked on the shutdown then tried adding the 2 bootscreens in front and the fone did a reset!!! so did again for the shutdown and can live without the startup... but one problem though the startup ring keeps on ringing... what gives? :)
Guest nixy Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Nice work DaFunky................. :!: ( Caution.....genious at work!!!!)
Guest nixy Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Boot up wont work but other images perfect (nice enhancement) Updated ROM the other day to the Eurotel/Q-Tek. Because of this I have now got a "hideous" EUROTEL bootup screen. Hence am gutted I cant seem get new bootup screen to kick in. Any ideas as I have re edited image size ect....double checked reg settings....to no avail... thanks all the same though as these image tweaks are cool. cu
Guest -DUS- Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 it's the shutdown's that won't work on my phone, but the start-up's work great :) i get the original shutdown screen before shutting down, and i checked the reg setting twice. anybody got an idea:?:
Guest PsychoDave Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Welcome to the site. It depends on which rom version you have I think. Some work with all the screens, some just startup or shutdown. My SPV shows startup but not shutdown  but the reg settings are ok. Wouldn't worry too much about it, update 1.6 might solve it. Any Mods let us know?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 26, 2003 Report Posted August 26, 2003 Seems to depend on the MS build version, god knows why. I have customised both startup and shutdown screens on my Tan running Orange 1.6 with no problems.
Guest hatton33 Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 mines quite stange, it displays two different startup screens (three if u include the normal one) but cant change the shutdown one. Dunno whats goin on with it. i have spve100 with 1.5. Any ideas people?

" If you are on Qtek's ROM what you need to do to make the startup and the shutdown screen to work follow Dafunky's instructions but save the image for CarrierBitmap and MSBitmap somewhere in the IPSM (image for both keys should be one and the same), and the image for CarrierShutdownBitmap and MSShutdownBitmap on the storage card (again image should be one and the same). Hope this helps someone, sometime.
Guest TheCardinal Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 All this thing has been simplified. Look for the Startup and Shutdown Screen Changer ;)
Guest hk Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 Just tried the regkey way of doing this.. didnt work.. the screen is stored on my storage card though, that might be the problem.
