Orange talked me out of the SPV E100 new mobile !!!!

Went to my local Orange shop yesterday enquiring about the New E100 (am 6 months into my contact so I knew that I would have to pay a upgrade fee), when I asked the spritely young chick about the upgrade she told me it would be around £200 all in but why did I want to upgrade

I said speed, look and cos its new

She told me that I could download new software upgrades from Microsoft which are regularly posted WHERE ????? I cant find them and stupid me didnt ask !!!!

OK the new E100 looks nice and the keys and joystick are a bonus but she wanted to know why I wanted to pay £200 when I had the same thing in my hand

Does anyone know where these software updates are posted, from what I have read I dont fancy doing the Foreign edition upgrades - I could do to speed up my phone it sometimes works really fast other times its drags.

I have released shed loads of memory as I now use Changer Sonneries

from www.monolithix.org the only problem is my ringtones are now in french ???? but hey have 2.75 mb of memory free however the phone still drags ocassionally ???

I have all the usual tweaks speedmenu and speed boost but the the phone speeds up only when it wants to.

Any one out there who can point me in the direction of the Microsoft updates

Also can anyone tell me what other benefits the new phone has apart from those already listed is it really worth spending £200 :shock:

There will be a new English update for the SPV in a few weeks (give or take) Paul and some of the other moderators are testing it as we speak.

As for the SPV E100 - it really is exactly the same phone as the SPV. It has a better keypad, a slightly better screen and a different design. While it may be a great phone, I personally wouldn't spend £200 on it if I had the SPV (and not only cause I don't have £200 hehe).

However - if I didn't have the SPV .. I would definitely buy the SPV E100 over the SPV.

Do you have Task Manager installed?? You can use it to shut down programs running in the background .. slowing the phone down.

In all fairness the orange rep is correct, what a waste of £200, the e100 is nothing special, ok ill give you the screen is better and the keypad is much more friendly on the fingers but what else? nothing the spv cant be already upgraded or currently do.

you would be better saving the money and waiting for the spv2 or buying the mitac.

reasons?

the matic is xscale processor (i think thats spelt right) which is where the future of processors seems to be.

its 200mhz, wow!!!! and ive managed to get the snes emulator working on it and its great!!! especially for mario took a bit of re tweaking but it works, hee hee.
