my phone got stepped on by my bf. i thought he didn't but when i looked at my phone, it was already turned off. so i asked him if he *did* stepped on my phone, and sheepishly he admitted it.

anyhoo, when i opened my phone, it was back to its 'factory settings' - the homescreen, the profile names, the sounds, everything! :x pati yung time, na-reset! all the tweaks i made nawala na rin.

my guess would be that when he stepped on the phone, it somehow shorted something (backup battery??) that reset the phone.

Oh... the half-dead reset syndrome...

It goes on a half baked hard reset... It happened to me once... and all I did leave my phone i my pocket... Never happened again though...

just be careful next time...isa ako sa manghihinayang...

our smartphone is so useful if loaded with lots of stuff....you'll find what i mean when you start loading apps, utils, games, mp3s and a lot more...not to mention internet.. 8)

The phantom hardreset can happen because Smartphone is programmed to recover its registry whenever corrupted. This can happen if software crashes or battery removed or something stupid.

Just keep backups (download Mitac's phonebackup!), and if you're technically skilled, downgrade your bootloader to 0.93 and keep a full backup on an SD card. Only needs an 8mb card, which cost nothing.

ei! parang gayan din nangyari sa phone ko kanina! I did a 'Quick Reset', then nung nag boot na everything went back to default! Pati yung 'Remove Programs' ko nawala yung mga laman pero nag ru-run parin yung mga installed applications ko. :x

Ano kaya naging problem dun? Will it happen again?

Hello !! Your case is somewhat similar to my case. I really don't know what cause the sudden reset. This just happen when I restarted the phone medyo matagal nag display yung default na smartphone 2002 screen  , then suddenly when it finally open the unit it already turned into the default screan (as if galing sa hard rest) what surprised me was while it was restarting may lumalabas na message " Checking IPSM" and then after that " Updating Configuration" yung lumabas sa screen. when I checked the contents of the unit andun pa rin contacts, tasks, documents, even applications. yun nga lang na reset time, wala na ding laman (remove programs) ko.??? :? . Come to think of it prior to the incident earlier that day nag-auto update na naman Addict STK services di ko lang sure kung ano yung dumagdag :?: :?: :?: Pero howcome nung nagupdate sya ng Car Crazy di naman nangyari yun.

:!: A very familiar topic! :!:

The ever famous phantom reset happened to me too. bigla na lang naging German yung lingo ng phone ko, then the all the tweaks were gone, programs included. But it really aint nothin to be worried about. Take Grifter's word, its nothing serious (just dont let it get stepped on again  ). Also, AWARNER (one of the moderators) believe its just one of the phone's incessant bugs. But yep, definitely go for back up.

And just to be sure, I had a hard reset.

how did you install mitac phone back up. i tried to install it in mine but it fails to install. i'm using a Smart Amazing phone rom version 1.5.0.28

the message says "installation failed. the program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate". first time i've encountered this problem while installinga software.

PHAntom Reset, auto-reset, auto-restore whatchamacalit....its nothing serious...sometimes it does when you had one too many Tweaks, software installation, back-up, ...indeed a bugger...when the mobile device is under some "pressure" physical /technical or otherwise...it will at some point give up on you...after all it just a machine ...bumibigay din... ;)

hehehe...important thing...perform a good hard resetting, then check all the basic services call/sms/mms etc...if systom persists have it checked via the authorized servce centers..smart/brightpoint. :)

note: just dont mention the mishandling of you device...hehehe.so they wud check everything...

this info came from a Microsoft friend.

I think they already know.even the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)-HTC and other ODM (original Device Manufacturer) are aware of it. Microsoft is constantly in communication with Technical Managers of different Service Providers (networks) internationally (Asia/europe).
