Guest muff Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 over at www.smartphony.org there is an article saying that someone has worked out how to customise this screen (and a small avi to show it working) and that the tool to do this will be out in the next week :)
Guest Machineman Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 Hi there, That would be just great!!!!!!! 8) CU M8's

Guest Frazzyscot Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 I thought the sunset screen was in the ROM, so only way you could do that is to hack the rom?? or maybe I'm just being silly
Guest Arisme Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 yes, it's in ROM, and that tool was patching the ROM live, that's why I won't release it  as every fellow reverser I like gray areas, but this one is just crossing the line a bit too much 8)
Guest James Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 so what can we expect from this app? are we going to get anything Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Arisme Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 at least something to view the image, and the source code associated
Guest Crispy Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 at least something to view the image, and the source code associated   But not change it??? ... What would the point of it then be? :?
Guest drblow Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 yes, it's in ROM, and that tool was patching the ROM live, that's why I won't release it   as every fellow reverser I like gray areas, but this one is just crossing the line a bit too much  8) I don't understand this! Is this your app, Arisme?? If so, what are the grey areas that would prevent you from releasing an app we all want!!??
Guest Arisme Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Modification of the ROM image, which can be seen as a copyright breech under french law. but don't worry, you'll have some interesting source code to look at anyway
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 I think releasing of this utility would be perfectly reasonable... P
Guest nixy Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Sorry to quickly change topic but its a quickie only..... Paul....(fingers crossed) can u shed any light on to why I am unable to change my profile setup. I have tried in vain via my MoDaco profile page but I get page unavailable everytime. I have checked my ie settings as well as reinstalled/installed it. My java setup seems okay too. I am interested in uploading an Avitar as well as personal info ect as others have done. I am using winMe with ie5.5. Any help would be appreciated. cu PS: thought you might like to read our review of MoDaCo on our website. www.my-spv.co.uk
Guest Crispy Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 "]I think releasing of this utility would be perfectly reasonable... So, Arisme, what did you decide? Are you going to release it or not?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 No idea, that's very weird, profile is OK for everyone else right? P
Guest yoos Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 I know absolutely zero about laws with software on mobile phones... but isn't the phone our property? Are we not allowed to legally change it? I don't know... just a thought... I would look into it though before I released it I guess...
Guest Arisme Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 well, that's why I did  while the french law is pretty lax regarding reverse engineering, any modification to the software (ROM image here), even a simple translation, can be considered as a copyright breech. I know it's not often enforced, but I don't like useless risks  the (useless for non coders) source code will be released this week for sure (a few things to clean)
