Guest phillipwarduk Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 Since receiving a sim update on Friday 15th August my GPRS has stopped working. The G flashes a few times and then I get 'Error Unable to place Call' Spoke to orange who said the sim update was todo with MMS ! They have passed the problem on to Technical Services who will get back to me in the next 72Hrs :) Anybody here know what the resolution is or have a simialr problem since Friday ? Phillip Ward
Guest TANKERx Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 They've passed the call to Technical Services? Uh-oh! That's the Impenetrable Mist of limbo! Nobody has ever gone there and come back! Only joking! It's worth calling a few times because there's a good chance you can get through to someone who knows what has actually happened and be able to do something about it. But keep calling, otherwise they'll close the call.
Guest Chief Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I have had the exact same problem for over a month now with no resolution. It started when I got put on the Mobile Email 3 month promo - not been able to access GPRS at all since. The G flashes over the aerial 3 times before the "Unable to place call" error comes up - do you find the same? Are you also on Everyday 50 by any chance?

Problem sorted, I did as you suggested and this time spoke to somebody who said the MMS sim update can sometimes knockout the GPRS and they will send me another sim update to enable the GPRS. This they did within the hour and It worked :) Many thanks
Guest Chief Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Was this also passed to Orange Technical Services ?Yes, and currently back with them for a third time. Problem sorted, I did as you suggested and this time spoke to somebody who said the MMS sim update can sometimes knockout the GPRS and they will send me another sim update to enable the GPRS. This they did within the hour and It worked :) I've had several SIM updates and GPRS taken off/put back on with no such luck. I will suggest the MMS thing next time I speak to them. I just hope when it is fixed I'll get the month back I've lost on the GPRS promo...
