Guest greg7901 Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 Im goin to new york on friday and obviously i wanna be able to use my SPV. There are some travel chargers on ebay...but typical they are closed till 29th august :) sum1 said that all spv's come with an american 2 pin adaptor...to replace the uk 3 pin one...but i dint get one. But as it is a switching power supply, there should be no problems with voltage etc yeh? So i could just plug it into a travel adpater and it shuld charge? if not then any other ideas??? im gettin desperate here...i NEED to able 2 use my phone
Guest neilg Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 first port of call would be to orange customer services or wherever you got the phone from to ask them to send you the american adaptor for the charger. if not as you say it is only a slide on adaptor, there is no change to the SMPS so I would just use a normal adaptor as you say. Be gentle though I had some problems ages ago with the adaptor snapping leaving the bare pins sticking out of the wall - nice!
Guest yoos Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 I live in the US. Anyone have any ideas where I can get the standard US adapter? I have a connector, but it's a little bit of a pain and I would like one that is built for the SPV power adapter.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I just traded my UK adapter for the US adapter with another forum member, ZIM. The SMART tanagers come with the US adapter. Maybe you could solicit a trade or sale in the ForSale forum.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 By the way...I saw this question before and someone recommended to get an adapter that plugs right into your current one....at a luggage store, travel store or at the airport. They are VERY cheap! Good Luck and enjoy the Big Apple!
Guest jctune Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 You can get the adaptor from any T-Mobile or ATT Wireless store (as it's the same as the XDA / SX56). This is a more expensive proposition though, as they both charge $20+.
Guest yoos Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 I didn't know it was the same as the XDA / SX56! So I could compare prices online then?! Thanks jctune!
Guest greg7901 Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 right ok...bit too late to think about trading or getting in touch with orange...so ill jus try a normal adapter...im pretty confident it'll work now, thanx guys and at least i kno they sell an adaptor in the us if i get reallllly stuck and yeh i sure will enjoy it :) :o
Guest mcwarre Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 and yeh i sure will enjoy it :( Lucky for some. Hope that the 'leccy is on to allow you to charge it :) :o :P
