Guest SaudK Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Just found out some bad news! And i am gutted! I used the the orange developers over the air uncertification method for my spv. you need a orange sim in the phone for the process to go through. The process runs smoothly, i install a uncertified app and it works fine. HOWEVER, when i change to my vodafone sim, the app no longer runs. When i try installing another app, it tells me the app is not certified! :x So basically, the orange over the air process works ONLY with a orange sim card. Any other sim, and it tells you to go away! What a shame!
Guest spacemonkey Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 that sounds pretty strange. The sim should be independant of the OS settings which is what the OTA unlock unlocks... Try putting in your orange sim and getting your apps running, then go to /IPSM/Windows/Startup and remove (keep a copy somewhere else) AELock.lnk This disables the OTA unlock mechanism so maybe if you power off and put your vodafone sim back in it will keep going as per normal. It's the only explanation I can think of that AELock is spotting your voda sim and relocking it at power up...
Guest SaudK Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 that file is not present in the startup directory!
Guest spacemonkey Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Sorry, I may not be remembering the name right, it's not on my phone and all my stuff is at home... could you list what is in /IPSM/Windows/Startup and I'll tell you which one you want to remove. that file is not present in the startup directory!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I can run app's fine with my O2 SIM in my phone?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Same here with my works vodaphone SIM
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Unless they have done a sudden tweak to the unlock process so you now have to have an Orange SIM :? but I doubt it.
Guest SaudK Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Startup: add contact coldinit eloff EzPushRouterRegister MMSSvc Orange Support SmsClassZero Usbcnect
Guest spacemonkey Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I don't think it'll be this given the guys comments above, but I'm pretty sure the one you want to remove is "Orange Support". When your phone is plugged into your pc browse to the startup group, right click on it and go properties, it should show you the shortcut program. It should be something like AELock.exe Take that out of startup and reboot your phone with the vodafone sim Startup: add contact coldinit eloff EzPushRouterRegister MMSSvc Orange Support SmsClassZero Usbcnect
Guest mjinglis Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 i did it only yesterday works on my o2 sim but i do get occassionally that message, try restarting the phone after you get the message and try again.
Guest amo Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 I sometimes get the error message saying the app isnt certified, but thats just small gllitches that I can live with and I never use any sim other than orange, a simple reboot cures it.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 I get the error when my battery is on the verge of dying!
