Does MoDaCo really have no sence of humour?!

Ok, this is getting ridiculous now, it seems that the moderators on MoDaCo have no sence of humour on here and are constantly locking the forums that amuse us the most. For example, the "My" thread, the wrod accosiation thread which is rumoured to be closing, and there was others too. (Cant remember the name now of one but I remember it being about getting the last word in a thread - which mono locked).

What the hells going off!

Obviously my humour was a little too surreal for the "My" thread (i was playing on the "Topic Locked" joke...).

And i'd hardly say locking one thread is "constantly locking the threads that amuse" you....

If people were enjoying it that much you can always ask for it to be reopened...

Asking for a thread to be unlocked would be like pissing on the moon

Like i said earlier, there was another thread that sprung to mind which you locked too - just cant remember the name. I can remember when you used to go around locking topics left right and centre, we all used to be scared of you! I can even remember telling you to change your signature to "topic locked" :)

Which...? I'm interested? :)

As for my previous efforts, i try to let topics die now rather than lock them all off...the "My" thread was just a joke...sorry.

SM/Clint: I meant asking in a PM, jesus, can't say anything here without it being twisted beyond all recognition hehe ;p

there was a thread, called 'last word' started by someone,

I had the sense to post and lock! - hence having the last word

then a mod beat me, by posting again (we can post in locked topics).

A joke gone wrong? i don't think so, but the topic died.

There have been some seriously funny topics, but some go too far in terms of post count boosting, tasteless, or downright pointless. :)

as for the word association thread, it's funny, lots of people are reading and posting in there, but eventually it will finish, and i cannot see anyone wanting to read all xx pages once it's done.. so the thread will die.

We're not all killjoys, but some things need stopping before they get out of hand.

Feel free to PM me or any other mod (best to email the one who locked your post), and if the reason is logical, it WILL be unlocked.

Will :o

I thought my post (last before locking) was maybe a bit too bizarre for you mono? Glad to hear it was all just a joke, but why does your joke have to be the last word? That was the strange

Would the joke still have worked if i hadnt (not that it did anyway :))?

I'm sorry, i've seen the error of my ways and modified as appropriate, i didnt realise quite how seriously people were taking such light hearted thread...

The "Why Bother" thread(rant) was also locked by Mono

I think this thread was a fine example of good grown up debate containing such intellectually stimulating and subtle use of the English language such as "Testicle sniffing rectal wart..." and "Pagemaker smells of poo and wee". !!!!

i don't think people were taking it that seriously, but you didn't seem to realise that locking is a very blunt instrument. it's amusing watching someone else get hit by one but if it happens to you you tend to react differently.

I like that, the "rumoured" bit :) I did post elsewhere about locking it

with a  smilely so some one took it to heart :o

I like the topic but also as most of you regulars know the stance we take

on posts that just boost numbers, and if and when the thread eventually

dies then it may well be deleted.

A better way would have been to limit each member one post only in that

thread and then we could see how many different members would

actually post.

Chances are we could have seen quite a few first time posters :P

PS As for locking topics, any that I do lock the creator of the topic is

always sent a PM to explain why this has happened (unless a request to lock has been posted)

I've always had the impression that the mods are too heavy handed. I mean its not as if we are all 3310 owners that spend pages of threads insulting each other's mothers.

I couldn't seen the point in Mono locking the 'Why Bother' thread - we'd all had a pop, agreed to disagree, had a laugh and left as friends. No aminosity, no rumbings of discontentment and a thread that had already run its natural course.

Sure, if we get invaded by the Nokia bus-stop posse then lock, move and censure. But until then, I think we are all level headed enough to have as much as a laugh as we do have factual discussion?

Phew... where's my inhaler?
