Guest battletank Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Microsoft are making changes to their MSN/Windows Messenger products to stop third party clients accessing the service - see this news article. I understand that this will mean that the SPV will require an update to fix the MSN Messenger client.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Yeah, i heard about that. No more tirllian :)
Guest Renwaldo Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 So, does anyone actually know when the SPV update will be issued? I can't log into my Messenger on my SPV E100 anymore, and it's very annoying!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 I've been using MSN fine all week.
Guest ajb3000 Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 balls, that will mean I can no longer use MSN in Linux :)
Guest Crispy Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 No more trillian :) Lets hope they make use of the little part "Work out an agreement", Trillian is THE messenger client!
Guest TANKERx Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 The switchover to Microsoft tie-in is October 15
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 MSMobiles site states "Don´t forget to update your Microsoft smartphone or Pocket PC phone before October 15, 2003" So where do we get this update?
Guest Coucou Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 oh!my god! bless all of u! Thank you, I feel very blessed. :? Back on topic, I've never tried using anything other than MSN Messenger anyway (being still a relative newbie) not least because on my phone is the first time i've had access to it. What advantages do you get with other services, like Trillian? :?:
Guest b1uepower Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 What advantages do you get with other services, like Trillian? :?: you can have MSN, AOL, ICQ and Yahoo running in the same programe so it frees up your task bar.. and its quite good to use them all in one programe makes life easy :)
Guest Coucou Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Ok, but why would you want to do that? Can you not see all your contacts and chat to them in Messenger, or Do Yahoo, ICQ etc offer other functions?
Guest Brody Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 The point is that you dont have to run each chat client seperately as Yahoo contacts dont show up in Messenger so Trilllian makes them all available in one client :)
Guest CamperBoy Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 This is what Microsoft say - Microsoft is also working on updates for Smartphone users with its partners. Check back in early October to learn more about the availability of Smartphone updates from Microsoft partners. taken from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/pro...aq/default.mspx
Guest ajb3000 Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Also for people like me who like to use MSN under OSs which MS don't support (like Linux), we will no longer be able to. More taking advantage of their monopoly.
