I'm on my mobile in Spain so no time to search properly, so apologies if it's already been discussed?

Has anyone tried out Mail Center from Sunnysoft?

I've just tried out the demo, and I have to say, it's great!!!

Multiple email accounts, options to just send, or just receive, or send and receive, on just one account, or on all accounts:)

You can add MULTIPLE attachments! and choose which folder to save all the data in, which means you can free up your IPSM folder by storing your data on your storage card!!! :)

When you receive an email with attachments, you can choose any location to save them in, again freeing up your IPSM!!

I've not played with it much, but initial thoughts are FANTASTIC!!!

I'm only mildly impressed - it only supports POP3 mailboxes. The blurb suggests IMAP4 support, while the screenshots also suggest webmail (Hotmail, Yahoo) can also be collected. Unfortunately, this is not true and somewhat misleading.

My initial impressions are good. It's just what I've been waiting for. It saves me having to waste valuable kb's browsing around mail2pda. It's already got a place on my Homescreen :)

I thought it was too good to be true!

When composing an email, if you try to add a symbol such as a comma, or an ampasand etc., it puts them in the wrong place at the beginning of the message :)

Also, even though I've set it to receive the first 50 lines of an email, I've had a few totally blank messages? But if I then mark them for download, the message comes in.

Finally, unless it's clever enough to block certain spam emails, it seems to leave the odd email behind ;) Comparing my incoming emails using Mail Center, with my laptop using OE6, and my Smartphone's regular email program, I'm a couple of emails missing???

No clickable URL links in emails. Can't auto dial. Slow to open contacts list. Does not interface with the inbox counters on today screen.

Sort this out and it will be a good program.

.........and stop it re-downloading emails each time you check your accounts (if you have configured it to only download a set number of lines of each email). You end up with multiple copies of the same email :)

What a pile of crap. Just tried to remove the program and it has created about 200 folders in ISPM/Application Data/MailCenter.

I can not remove the blasted folders manually via windows or smart explorer.

Any ideas?

200 ?!?! What sort of names?

The only folders I have are 1 per email account and then sub-dirs for Inbox, Sent etc.

Did you set up 40 or 50 mail accounts?

No I set up 2 accounts . When I uninstalled the program it created the same folder names hundreds of times inside the sunnysoft directory!! Now I can't get rid of sunnysoft from add remove programs even though the program is uninstalled, nor will it re-install again and I can't remove the directory either! Crap or what!

Presumeably you've tried power-cycling the phone then deleting the folders?

Sounds like the file structure in the IPSM has got a bit corrupted.

My experience from using Mail Center over the past week...

First the good:

- multiple email accounts on your phone with storage on your SD card. yay.

Now the bad:

- mail center 'forgets' which messages have been downloaded and instead re downloads them all, resulting in duplicates and long download times. (noted above)

- does not delete messages from the server when you delete them from your phone, which means when it forgets and downloads duplicates, as above, you get all the spam that you're deleted back as well.

- when switching back to mail center from another program or from the homescreen (using xbar or the 'programs' menu) the mail center is often 'locked' (stuck in an invisible form you cannot get out of). the only way to continue is to kill mail center via xbar or another task manager and then restart it, in the process losing all your unsaved work. terrible if your writing an email and receive an incoming call

- appears to crash a lot when sending email. Either that or it's just taking so insanely long that I end up removing the battery.

- it is incredibly slow at deleting emails. and it gets slower the more emails you have in the account you're deleting from. delete 3 emails from an account with twenty messages and it will take a couple seconds. delete 3 emails from an account with seventy emails, not a lot, and it takes over three minutes (3:21 on my watch)! delete fifty spam messages from that same account (happens a lot when mail center forgets which msgs have been downloaded) and you can go to lunch while your phone grinds away with the backlight on and sucking juice. you may as well forget your phone at your desk when you go because the it locks up completely while deleting.

- text areas default to multitap instead of t9

- cannot insert symbol into message body. when you try, the symbol is inserted at the front of your message instead of where your cursor is. (noted above)

- need to be able to delete an entire line with a single button press so you can quote emails without waiting minutes on end while using the backspace key. or perhaps the ability to select text and then delete it. At the moment it's unrealistic to quote emails.

- missing the ability to automatically check email on a scheduled basis, download it, and then notify you. what email client cannot do this?!

- back button when reading a message should take you back to the folder you were in, but instead it takes you back to the previous program you were using, this is annoying and breaks the smartphone interface expectations.

- no secure ssl support for business users

- no imap support (which would allow lots of great new features like only download today's messages)

- no signatures

- no ability to automatically bcc an address when sending mail, set on a per account basis, so that you can send a copy of all your sent messages to your desktop system.

- terribly slow contacts browser. expect to wait a minute or two before being able to select a contact. (noted above)

- company seems to have gone on holidays over xmas and i didn't get my reg code for 6 days after ordering from handango. this pissed me off immensely as the code was needed for MY holidays so I could access my email while away. What company puts their sales department on hold over the xmas season??

So why do I end up using Mail Center at all? At the moment it's the only mail client for the phone that seems to support multiple accounts. If anyone knows of another, please let me know and I'll dump sunnysoft in an instant

Couldn't agree more. Just not a useful program. Additionally, if your IT department requiores authentication, you can't get your emails. With the Microsoft Inbox, you can specify that the server requires authentication.

I do not recommend Sunnysoft.

Try xmail. It is very simple and just switches to and from different accounts. See if it works for what you need.

Good luck...
