Guest nys_cyber01 Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 Is there any existing IR Remote Application for our smartphone 2002? i mean freeware and really usable... like the one for nokia 3650/7650... if not, maybe we could create one. just need the spec for the ir and some programming tutorials. care for a bit challenge, anyone?
Guest kyrkesmith Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 It's complicated because remote controls use CIR, which is not compatible with IrDA, which the SPV uses. You can, however, get IrDA to emulate CIR, but there's no existing application available. It's also unlikely that you'd get more than about 2m range.

Guest dewslat Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 ur right... some people coundn't understand.... it is possible but smartphone's IR is just to weak!!!!
Guest nCoder Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 HTC said it isn't possible at all due to the way the IR port is accessed on the SPV. It is due to the fact that while the actual hardware would theoretically be capable of emulating a cIR signal the Perseus1 processor automatically alters any signal going to the port...so traditional PDA ways of doing it won't work on the SPV. Well this is what they told me anyway, and this coupled with the weakness of the signal from the SPV means it is not worth the effort messing about trying to get anything working. :)
