great review. I agree totally with the comparison of mio 8380 to the p800. Never tried the 7650 so can't compare. Like you I have had very few issues with the mio 8380 operating system. In fact I just cleaned up a couple of issues by downloading the latest version of ActiveSync (the one on the CD is out of date).

The review was indeed well written but my comments are as follows :

Apart from the display of the Mio, I think the P800 remains unbeatable as a Smartphone. The Mio appears like a dumb blonde compared to the P800. The N7650 is a mere tramp and shouldnt even be considered smart!

spectre, elaborate on why you think the p800 is unbeatable in comparison to the mio.

also, what is ems?

Symbian fan I think :)

Think is everyone I know (and not just on this site) who has had a P800

has ended up getting rid of it to go MS Smartphone,

Or am I just a good salesman :o

PS Welcome to the site spectre :P

I used to have a 7650, then a P800 and now an E100

I'm not "defecting" from Symbian to MS, I'm just changing phones to try them out. Who knows... I might go back to a Nokia for the next one.

I'm new here, but I would say that you should avoid the "I hate Nokia" "Symbian is God" "Smartphone is the best" debates - they really put visitors off joining. I only joined this forum because I did NOT see much of that going on.

Just my 2p

Great reviews edd, I think I'm sold on the Mitac now, just gotta wait for it to come to Europe :o (although not too soon as I've just bought a laptop so need time to save up :) )

Is September still realistic for the Mio in the UK?

nice review

the mitac is a great phone but its size with is HUGE!!

i have to agree with you guys that the phone is huge, but then again most clamshell camera phone are about the same size anyway... YES i think the MS smartphone (apart from some lacking here and there) is a very good first try from MSoft.

Just hope that the smartphone 2003 OS will be better

is the mitac phone's hardware faster than the spv? it seems like the spv's hardware just made the requirements for the OS. Playing mp3s works most of the time enless you have too much stuff on your phone and if you try to listen to mp3s while doing ANYTHING else it slows down and skips the mp3s.. its just something that is making me more and more annoyed :]

well the mitac has a 200Mhz Xscale processor, so should be a bit quicker :)

... but if I can't get a software unlocked one I won't even consider it.
