I copied a wav file into my startup folder and it plays the sound when I switch the phone on except for a brief hang or delay after the orange screen where it hangs on a white screen for about 15 secs before going on to the blue screen.

Now when I tried to remove the file from both activesync and all explorer it can not be deleted, it says make sure its not a read only file and smartphone has enough memory, both being not the case.

How do I delete this wav file from the startup folder now?

Try installing Binary's Taskmanager and ending all processes. If that doesnt work rename the file and reboot.

Go to my website (see sig) and scroll to the bottom, download Taskmanager and install it. You should then have an icon called "SP TM Free Mem". Run this and "Quit all". Then try removing the file.

If that doesn't work try renaming the file (bleh.wav to bleh.wav1) and rebooting, then try to delete it.

i believe the phone has to be decert to install taskmanager, mine's not. I tried changing the file name and made it a txt file, the sound does not play anymore however, it still hangs and the startup process has slowed down more now, even with the icons and screen on, it takes about 2 minutes for the text like time, appts etc. to appear on the phone.

Easy solution would be to decert your phone :) 2 mins with Orange OTA. Anyway, try removing the file now. The phone does take a while to boot, 2 mins sounds like a bit too long though. You could always resort to a hard reset if it is that unbearable...

i am in the US and have tried the Orange OTA many times but unable to decert, now I am trying hard reset and when i start with the record button and start btn, it asks me to press any button and i press the action key which takes it straight to canary screen.. i don't know how.

plus the spv is moving in slow mo now...all apps, screen changes etc..

boy i am not messin with this thing again if i ever fix this now.

Heh. I've been playing with dodgy bootloaders. The best way i found was as follows:

As soon as "card found" (assuming you have an SD card in) disapears press and hold the action key for a few seconds

Let go and immediately click and hold again for a few more seconds.

Release and you should go into the menu screen.

It takes a few attempts to master, you're effecitvely aiming to double click when it says to press any button, with a few second hold with each "click". Quick fingers and good timing are key :)

hey..thx, managed to hard reset and the wav file is fixed but somehow the whole thing seems to have slowed down now, not as bad but still slower than what it used to be.
